Corrosion removal from Jorgensen jaw clamps
«

I pulled out some "cabinet master" Jorgensen clamps and discovered some corrosion on the bar. How do you pro wood guys deal with this problem? If at all? Acid wash? nonabrasive scoring pads?
Thanks

I use WD-40 or Beoshield with a wire brush or a scotchbright pad and it works pretty well for me.

The only way to correctly remove corrosion is mechanically - with a wire brush. Best to use a rotary brush in a drill or an angle grinder.

No shop is complete without a set of these:
Klingspor Abraser Blocks
They'll clean anything with absolutely minimal stock removal.

I recently bought three heavy duty bar clamps for $10 each, and spent a little time cleaning the offensive rust off of them.
I used wire brush/sandpaper followed by phosphoric acid (from auto supply store), followed by CorrosionX (for future rust prevention).
They look real nice now.
