Hi guys,

Yet another new Festool owner saying Hi.  This is my 3rd attempt at woodworking over the years and it's going much better than the previous two. My first Festool purchase was a Rotex RO 90 with a Systainer for the abrasives, a CT 36 dust collector, and a pre-order for the new TS 55 REQ. That purchase was followed up by a PS 300 jigsaw. I don't think the Festool tools have made this latest attempt better than the previous ones (my skills are, um, let's just use the term "lacking" to keep this post family-friendly Big Grin) but they sure have made it more fun.

My goal is to overcome my limitations and spruce up our current home for sale and create knick-knacks for the grandkids. We're about 15 yrs from retirement so that should give me enough time to get some good learning done then take that knowledge to restore/build our retirement home.

Originally from NYC but now hang my hat in Texas. 3 kids (all grown and out of the house), 3 grandkids, and 1 dog. Day job is in banking and I own a small boutique photography studio.

Hope to learn a lot from folks, not only about Festool tools but about woodworking in general. I have no doubt I'll get to meet some good folks too.  Smile

Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Frank,   Welcome! Welcome! Welcome! to the FOG.

I am jealous, I didn't order the new TS yet.  Personally I think that will the tool that really helps you dig this attempt at woodworking.  Never be shy - ask away here for help.  And if any of us can help we are usually around.

The tools in my truck were talking the other day.  The Dewalts, PC's, Boschs, Makitas were not happy.  They also were in the minority.  Their complaint:  They felt unused and unappreciated since the Festools moved in.  I guess the truth hurts.

Hi Frank, Welcome to FOG and glad to have you here. As Peter already said, feel free to ask any questions you may have!  Congrats on you new purchases and make sure to keep us posted on all the projects you tackle with them.

Festool makes woodworking and LOT more fun... I gave up woodworking, in my 20's. Now in my late 50's and i have been much more successful. I have also spent a ton more money on tools. Did not have any money in my 20's.

Hi rank,

Welcome to the FOG!  Smile

I think you need to put a Kapex on the list for some custom frames in the studio.  Wink

Welcome Frank!
You have come to the right place!  Lots of knowledgeable folk here who love to answer questions - just remember that there is more than one way to skin a cat - we love to argue, too and most times both sides are right.

Be sure to check out the videos, many of the Festools have hidden features and tricks to make the most of them.

Welcome  Frank!

Lots of good advice here -- ask away.  Lots of experience and one of the friendliest places on the web.  Get a Domino to help with the frames... One of the dangers of this site is we like to not only spend our own money, but everyone else's money too! Big Grin

Have fun!
