Hello from ATS Diamond Tools.
« on: October 23, 2018, 05:00 PM »
So there I was browsing the interweb looking for our products and how I could widen the appeal/advertising for said products and I've stumbled across this forum.

I can see that some members on here have already bought products from us, mainly saw blades for TS55 Track Saws.

This also explains how and why we get seemingly random orders from the USA as generally the imperial/metric system leads to us having different size tooling (us being in the UK).

I've frequented forums for years and understand the fine line of being a contributing member balanced with blatantly plugging our products. So if I'm welcome and can answer some questions that are probably outside of the normal remit of Festool products and uses "White label" if you will, then I'm happy to help.

If someone could fill me in with the finer detail of if I'm allowed to post links back to our own website/products, that would be helpful.

Happy to meet you all and happy to answer questions.

This site is how I found your products here in good ol USA. I have the diamond blade for the ts55. Great bit of kit. Worked on quartz flawlessly.

A general product guide would be helpful.

Maybe the mods @Peter Halle or @SRSemenza can fill in the fine details you’re interested in and by the way, [welcome] to the FOG.

I’ve purchased one of your blades for the TSC 55 and have cut 10mm thick porcelain tile with it. However, I did notice a small amount of edge chipping with it. I then placed blue painters tape on the cut line and that mitigated the issue somewhat. It was certainly a cleaner cut using the tape. My next attempt will be to use a scoring cut, with the tape, maybe .5mm to 1mm deep before engaging the full depth of the tile. Your thoughts?

For my application, the chipped edge will be hidden with Schluter aluminum trim, however I’m just trying to get as clean a cut as possible.  [smile]

I’ve also purchased your diamond sanding blocks and find them also very useful for cleaning up the edges of the porcelain tile.

It’s a real pleasure to have direct feedback from a vendor/manufacturer...the horses mouth so to speak.  [big grin]

Thanks for the welcome guys.

Many of your questions are the ones we're asked on a daily basis. So I'll write up a guide on how we even came about offering blades for this application and the difference between carpentry tooling and equipment used for tiling and stone masonry.

There are some very fundamental differences that once pointed out are obvious and answer a lot of questions in one go.

Is there a particular section of the forum that would be more appropriate for this guide?

Welcome to the FOG.. to answer your question, I would use the Other Tools & Accessories section. Any link to your website? Never mind, I got out of my laziness and found it  [big grin]

Pretty website, quick to load and easy to navigate  [wink]

I figured that would be the most appropriate place to start a conversation.
