Greetings to all! I'm a professional cabinetmaker/woodworker, Dutch but living and working in Switzerland.

Ran into this forum a couple times before seriously starting to explore it some weeks ago. Before it seemed a bit odd to join a forum dedicated to a brand but I'm really quite impressed by the quality of the content from a woodworking perspective. It is obvious Festool sets many standards and I feel the people coming here have a keen eye for innovation and quality and I've found that quite inspiring to say the least. It makes this forum so much more than a Festool forum, it truly is about the owners.

Looking forward to meeting you and chatting about wood and what not.

Cheers! Bob.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the enthusiasm! Gonna keep an eye out for Alan I suppose. Wink

Well I didn't mention my website, seemed a bit inappropriate, being my first post and all. Also, I'm planning on some updates but let me know it's cool and I'll post the url.

Been building furniture for a good 15 years now, and my first machine (or maybe the second) was a 900 watt Festo router. Still performs swell, hanging upside down now under my router table. A bit later but not much I bought a Rotex and plunge saw (55), then the big planer. Don't know the exact types. Then at some point the cordless drill, 9.6 volts a second one a couple years later. What else.... Right, I used to own a Festool jigsaw back in those days.

A couple of years back I've added a RTS 400 and a new cordless drill, think it was the first C 12 with the biggest battery they had back then, 3 Ah.

Right now, the last couple of years, I've added a precisio 70, the brilliant ETS 150/3 (sooooo much lighter than the old Rotex...), the also wonderful BS75, a new TS 55, both Dominos although I've not used the XL yet (shame...) and my good friend the Kapex. That's about it I think. All machines are used to earn a living and every time I need something I go through all the brands, 9 out of 10 times end up with a new Festool. It has gotta be said, they do set the mark.

On my wishlist are the OF 1400, the system 32 gadgets and I'm hoping each day my big Makita cordless drill dies so I can check out a big model T Festool or Protool.

Furthermore, I'm having this little experiment with myself to see if one day the Syslite starts to make sense and I maybe end up with one.

Good to be here guys and girls! Thanks for the warm welcome!

Cheers, Bob.

The tools in my truck were talking the other day.  The Dewalts, PC's, Boschs, Makitas were not happy.  They also were in the minority.  Their complaint:  They felt unused and unappreciated since the Festools moved in.  I guess the truth hurts.

Bob, Ken is a very talented, knowledgeable and valued member of the FOG, its just that occasionally his carers forget the medication and then you never know whats coming!! Laughing Tongue Out

This place is a mixture of those who use Festool's to earn a living and a lot of people who use Festool's for a hobby, so there are plenty of pro's websites and many contributions from hobbyists.

It is a great learning and problem solving forum and any contributions you make will be eagerly received and very probably plagiarised!! Scared Eek!

Hi Bob - and welcome to FOG !
I really likes the website and your kitchens and others. I have the same set of festools as you and my first Festo(ol) was a OF900 as well and like yours it is still working as when new. These tools lasts - I actually just bought one of the early 'rutchers' some months ago - it is prox 50 years old and still working but mainly bought for sitting on a shelve!

On your website you state that you dont use particleboard when doing kitchens - what do you use for the corpus then?

As a pro webguy since 1996 I would give you this light feedback though:

- the background color is well hmm err ... your choise 8^)
- the image pop-up component has to be replaced. It flickers way to much when browsing and I know that theres plenty too choose from on Joomla.

Hi Meldgaard,

Funny we have the same collection! And many thanks for the feedback. The color seemed a good idea back then but I want something a bit fresher now. There are a number of things I think I might change, not quite sure how far I'll take it but I think it's time for something new.
I'll forward the image pop-up thing to my website guy Wink don't really understand that.

I prefer to use birch plywood for the cabinets, have to say though I've been using some particle board lately. That has to do with a number of things but primarily the fact that a lot of finishes only exist on particle board...

Cheers, Bob.

There are several threads for shop pics including this recent one  http://festoolownersgroup.com/member-projects/let's-see-pictures-of-your-shops/

You may start a seperate one for your shop if you want though.

Thanks Seth, just checked that thread out, very nice. I'll def post my pics there, I've moved the shop about 6 months ago so I'll try to lookup some nice pics chronologically for a slideshow of sorts. Might take a couple days though, a lot of work planned for the coming days.

I always enjoy shop pics, being in my own shop too many hours a week sort of enables tunnel vision. Seeing other shops gets me thinking on a very elementary level. You know, like "what am I doing here??? Aaarghhh!!!!"
But seriously, I've concluded my shop is somewhat Northern American in approach, especially compared to other shops over here. I'm sure that has something to do with spending time on forums like these.

By the way Seth, weren't you the one that was working on a commercial table for cutting sheets with rail and plunge saw? Stumble over a thread about that ones, thought it was yours but can't find it anywhere...

Cheers.

I built and still use a large cutting table for my shop.   Here  But I wasn't trying to develop it for sale or the like.

I also have T-track set into the top of my 4' x 8' bench but I don't do any cutting on that.
