Interesting set! Let's you experience all the different handle styles.

But:

I've never seen black/yellow handled insulated screwdrivers from Wera before and I think it's beyond stupid and begging for an accident. Black/yellow is the combination for the 900 series which are not insulated and have a metal butt/strike cap - something you definitely not want to use around electricity. And now they're mixing this up by releasing insulated screwdrivers in the same color combination? Not the best idea, imho - ymmv.

Kind regards,
Oliver

If you do a google search on that Wera model number, it shows up as yellow/red everywhere I looked, just like the other insulated tools.  Maybe the one in the set was new/old stock?

I think the black / yellow is because they were / are trying to color code the square drives. You can also find pictures of the square  in bright green and yellow handle with red blade.  Also lots of places use the same pic for all the screwdrivers.

Hi Seth,

forgive me, I'm not sure we're on the same page here. I know that some stores will use images that might not show the actual or a slightly different product - not taking any issues with that.

But in this instance the pictured screwdriver does exist, and has the 168i, 1000V and VDE stamps... Now that I knew what to look for I found quite a couple of sources to buy these from, even locally.

I still think - square drive or not - it's an accident waiting to happen if someone uses both the 100 VDE and 900 series side by side.

One thing though, I might stand corrected. Judging by the picture from KC Tools I would have sworn it's black/yellow. However if you look at Wera or other vendors, it seems kinda greenish or is that just my eyes?

Yes, I realize that it exists in that color I have one too.  It does have a slight green hue. That one link is interesting that it shows two different square drive in that color. Which means they were not trying to follow the standard square color coding. Yes, bad idea, I don't get it.
