Matthew,

You need more categories!  Grin

1. I am addicted and need more help (or money).

2. I have almost as many Festools as Jerry Work.

3. There is less than 2 that I don't have.

Do "accessories" like the LR32 system count?  For $369 + $66 for the rail, I think it should...  Same with the MFS.

MFT
CT33
OF1400
TS55
RO150E
PS300

*coming soon*
Domino

*wish list*
C12 kit with accessory chucks.  I have to wait until my DeWalt dies before I can justify it...

I currently have two.  However, I have a TS55/MFT that's due this week.  A Domino will arrive when released so does that make 5 or should I stay in the 2 or more for now?   Grin

Let's see, in three months I've collected:
TS-55
RO 150 FEQ
CT-22
MFT 1080

Not a bad start!  Money allotted for the Domino.  Planning on OF 1400 plus accessories by Summer.
Played with the smaller cordless drill today.  It's now on the list...  Better make some more sales!

Hello, My name is Ted and yes I am a toolaholic. I have been into getting splinters before I could walk. I started out on job sites with my dad framing homes when I was a fine little gopher of 9 years old, you know, "go for this, go for that". Stated finish work when I was about 19 and been into that as a side job for the last 23 years.

I just made my first Festool purchase with Bob Marino 2 minutes ago and who I saw as a member at Sawmill Creek and Per Swenson just told me to make a post here.

I need a "tool buying intervention"...

Welcome!

Sorry, but the intervention you're likely to get around here might sound vaguely like a suggestion for additional tools!

Which tools did you purchase?  What are your project plans?  What was it about Festool tools that caught your eye?

So, have a look around the place, and please feel free to jump in any time with questions or photos or comments or whatever.

Oh yes, and make sure to vote in all the polls!

Stay in touch,

Thank you Mathew, I just purchased the TS75/CT22, Domino with cutter and tenon assortment, 118" guide, and two FSZ300 clamps.

I have many plans since I just purchased a new home and I have been in the finish carpentry my whole life. I do quite a bit of side work and these tools are just what I am looking for.

I was just doing some side work last weekend and a good friend of mine who does cabinets had quite a few Festools on the job site and after two days of building 40' of shelving in a finished garage I was so impressed with these tools I had to order some up myself.

Thank you for the welcome and yes I did vote and I am a member at Sawmill Creek and now here as well...

I have 5 Festools now as of yesterday. I purchase locally from my hardwood dealer (Hardware Specialities) even though I don't buy much I am a friend of the owners and believe in supporting the local distributer.  I could of spent the $2K yesterday for the new tools from a online store and saved 10% but as I told the owners I appreciate the local store front and the easy access to help and trade prices on the hardwoods that I do infrequently buy. Made a lot of points with them, I felt it was money well spent.
They have asked me to give them some pictures of the work I have done and they will promote the work I do, can't ask for more than that.

Currently Mathew I am banished to my Shed along with my trusty apprentice Simou.

This is due entirely to the 'Man from DHL' who failed to heed my explicit instructions on how to avert the 20/20 vision of my Loved One (CofS) and delivered my new MFT direct to the front door. So, despite using all the cunning, deceit and stealth of a trained killer (Military not Homicidal) to keep the latest purchase from the CofS I was finally thwarted, not by hoards of hairy ar*sed Russians, but by a delivery driver. He astutely noted the air of menace and standoff twixt me and the CofS, laughed merrily at my misfortune and whistled loudly and gleefully as he waltzed down the path to his truck. Simou, who should have at least threatened to assist in raising the 'Man from DHLs' vocal range, merely looked on with that resigned look that is so Rotweillian and prepared for (yet) another night in the cooler. So thats where we're at as Festool customers tonight ie in deep doodo.

Luckily, we have a hidden bottle of Lagavulin which has a label on it saying " For Use in Emergencies Only" so I have declared the shed an Emergency Area. We bid you all a good night from Wales.

On reflection, and warmed by a sniffter or three, I do think I have probably misread the raison d'etre for the thread. But when brains were handed out I was at least four paces behind my trusty mate Grin

Matthew. I am confuse, quite possibly a perpetual state, but do the MFT, CT22 & CTMidi count in this poll. If they do I have eight tools all proudly purchased from Bob Marino. I can never say enough good things about Bob by the way as his service, knowledge and general helpfulness are superior even to the quality of the Festool tools. Shocked) Fred

I was always rather good in mathematics, but I am having a little trouble doing this simple addition.  Really, I just don't know what should and should not be counted.  Hmmm, maybe we should only count tools that actually remove some wood?  Maybe anything that comes in a Systainer.  How about anything over a certain dollar amount.  It is just too confusing.  And, with more on the way, I had better figure this out soon.      Huh?

I am always a prospective customer for more Festools (and others as well).  I like well made machinery that works as advertised.  I have a TS 55 with 3 blades, 1080 and 800 MFTs 1400 router, Freud 13A router in table, Deltex 93, RO 125, LS 130, Domino and CT 22 with Boom arm, Dust Deputy cyclone, Shopsmith (my drill press, lathe and additional sanding center), Shopsmith 11" bandsaw on dedicated motorized stand; General 10" TS with router table extension, 10" jointer/planer, 2.5 HP dust collection cyclone, and a HD maple workbench with side and end vices, and a Zyliss vice (which I find to be quite fast, versatile and handy for many tasks), and a bunch of clamps of various sizes and types (still I never seem to have enough of the right size and type!).  All I now need to do is !!organize!! them so I can get my car back into that garage.   I recently purchased a large reference square which confirmed that my little (8" blade, wooden handle with brass inside face), old, inexpensive Stanley square was dead on, both inside and outside!  On my shopping/wish list are MFS, a longer guide rail for reducing plywood sheets, and possibly another MFT, tooling for my routers, and layout, measuring and marking tools, a HVLP spray equipment set, and a complete C12 drill set with all the chucks and the big assortment of bits and drivers  (I currently have a Makita cordless drill and several older corded drills.  I remain partial to those older corded drills because they never run out of power and more importantly, their chucks grip the twist drill bits much more firmly which I find important when drilling through metal.)  The 1010 router would jump to high on my list if it could use 1/2" shank bits.  And eventually, to upgrade my bandsaw to a 14 to 16 inch unit.  I expect to run out of money and time before I run out of interest and projects that I want to do.  I prefer solid wood to veneers and plywood for most of my projects.

I realize that I have become a FOGaholic more than a Festool addict - I cannot let more than a day or two go by without coming to FOG to read every message.  This is truly a great site.  Thank you, Matthew, for what you have done.

Hi- This is my 1st post.  I have no Festools.  I looked at a lot of Domino online info when it came out and got into Festools in general.  I was impressed with seeing videos of the saw and table.  Yesterday I saw one Festool lady, a professional, I think, who said she got rid of her table saw.  I'm pressed for space and it seems that the MFT and saw has superior squaring papabilities- besides being space saving.

Sorry about posting that too soon. Continuing, I'm looking to learn what Festool owners think of their tools- a lot, I'm seeing- and if the system approach does what it is claimed.  I am a dentist and a hobbist woodworker with a Shopsmith, a Rout-R-Slide (Jessem), and a Sears sanding station.  I do some with hand tools but appreciate the capabilities power tools offer.

Byron-

I am a cabinet and furniture maker and have only my Festool system and a planner - as well as a goodly assortment of hand tools.  The system does indeed work.  IMO, it is simply the best.  Go ahead and take the plunge - you'll be glad you did!

Byron,

Take the plunge -- get a TS 55 and you'll never look back.  Once you see the finish you get from this, and the accuracy with which you can lay out your work, you'll be hooked.  30 day money back guarantee gives you the mental reservation cushion.

Buy from Bob Marino and you'll not only get the tool, but the best support you've ever seen.

Good luck

Byron,

Welcome to the forum!

I think you'll find that there's a lot of enthusiasm for Festool tools.  However, each of us has our unique wants, needs, perceptions, and constraints.  Part of the goal of this forum is to help find the best match of tools for our situation.

I have space constraints too.   Here's a discussion of shop/garage storage that may address my issue.  I'll implement something like this after my master bath remodel is done.   I thought might be interested:  http://festoolownersgroup.com/index.php?topic=1614.0.

Regards,

Dan.

p.s., here's a pic of my "shop" (master bath) a couple of months ago.  The sub-floor that you see was cut to 1mm precision IN the bathroom with my TS55.   Cool

You'll hear a lot of metric in this forum.   However when someone talks about a "5mm margin", it's has a whole different meaning.  Grin

Yeah, like cutting into the side rails of your MFT if you forget that little number!  (No, I have not done that yet, but a couple of days ago I made a 45 degree bevel index notch through my MFT fence.)  And when you start working with a Festool router, you move that measurement down to 0.1mm.
