I FINALLY decided to hide the garbage can and recycling bins.  Prior to getting the DOMINO, I would have done the Garbage Cans Surround like I'd do a fence.

BUT - since the DOMINO makes loose tenon mortise and tenon joinery so fast and easy - well I just couldn't
stick with K.I.S.S..  As long as I was going to use "furniture" joinery I might as well updrade from rough cut
fence boards to kiln dried,  quarter sawn  S4S con heart redwood.

SIX tenons per face?! Are you sure that's enough? I hope you're using the waterproof Dominos, otherwise the whole thing could just fall apart!

I've included full scale illustrations of how to work out the DOMINO settings for the two set backs/reveals merely to show how they can be calculated numerically, without ANY layout lines, in most cases in integer millimeters - no fractions to deal with.

By the time I finish this garbage surround project I should be thinking in DOMINO numeric values.  And THAT is one reason why this is such a revolutionary tool.  It literally changes how you think about joints and tool set ups.  I'm also coming to appreciate the metric system.
Re: Racoon. Opossum, Coyote proof - I'm assuming you mean how to avoid The Splotchies when finishing.
Redwood can be VERY prone to The Splotchies because it is a soft porous wood that often has grain running every which way.  But by selecting quarter sawn boards, splotchiness is greatly reduced, though not always eliminated entirely.  A "spit coat" of dewaxed shellac followed by a very light sanding with 320 grit can greatly reduce The Splotchies.  But when you get a little curly figure in a redwood board, why hide it?

It's also nice to know that I'm not the only one who starts with a simple project and compicates the heck out of it along the way to completing it.  Maybe I should just kiss off KISS.

There are no "critters" permitted here in Silly Cone Valley, center of the Techie Universe.
Besides, the garbage "can" (actually a big plastic flip top thing - on wheels) has been sitting
out for years - with no enclosure at all.    If we did have "critters" they'd have destroyed
this thing years ago.

We do, however, have egrets AND cranes - which seem to think my little fish pond is a
sushi bar, and an expensive one at that (see Price of Koi).  I've had encounters with
bears in Yosemite, Yellowstone and Jackson Hole, but turning a corner on the way to
front door and finding myself looking into the beady eye of a crane - at my eye level -
who is glancing over a very LONG POINTY bill was more startling and scary.
