Cabinet plans / Domino
« on: February 20, 2017, 01:58 AM »
Hello, I am looking for plans to build shop cabinets in my two car garage turned wood shop. I have built some smaller type book cases with rabbets, but was looking for plans that incorporated the dominos. This will be my first cabinets and would like a step by step plan if there were any available.

I looked through the plans sticky with no success, and I am no good at translating the German website with their plans.

Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Do take a look at all of my workshop related projects on YouTube. I use the Domino DF500 in every project as it is by far the quickest way to put a cabinet together. I also show how easy it is to make cheap and cheerful drawers from ordinary MDF using the Domino.

From memory the projects include:

   - Mobile Bench
   - Bandsaw stand (with special compartments for air tools)
   - Pillar Drill Stand (with cross over drawers)
   - Mobile base for a planer
   - Mitre Station (designed for the Kapex but can be modified)
   - Large cabinet for a small CNC

The (simple) plans for all of these (and all of my other projects) are completely free of charge but I need an email address to which they will be sent. This can be sent by Private Message.

Peter, thank you very much for that offer. I am just getting up here on the east coast and will look through your projects today and send you my email address. Right now I am interested in putting cabinets together, but those other plans sound fantastic as well.

Thank you again!!!

Check out erok's (the popular shop) videos on building cabinets good stuff there.
Search it or just check out YouTube (Festool cabinet building) also Timtools recent shop-post shows some good examples and he sells the plans on his site.
Good luck

@USMCGRUNT  @Vondawg

Here is the link to erock's new YouTube channel.  It's called the The Poplar Shop.  Note that "Poplar" is spelled like the wood species.

Thank you all for the suggestions and links. I actually have the link saved from another post on these forums with The Poplar Shop videos. They are beautiful cabinets and may be a little out of my league right now as I am just looking for shop cabinet for tools. I am going to head over now and also check out Tims Tools. Thanks!

Tim's stuff is really well done.  His latest set of videos will give you inspiration and his website will let you order plans.  I ordered the set for his system workshop for like $8.00.  They even include Sketchup models as well as PDF's.

I think the combination of his videos and the plans might give you a great starting point for your shop buildout.

His website with videos and plans is here - http://benchworks.be/en/my-projects/system-workshop/

Tim's been on the FOG for quite awhile and likely would answer questions you have as you go down the path of building.

Look forward to seeing your in-progress photos!

Thanks for your service, and welcome to FOG, BTW!

Thank you for the kinds words, you are most welcome.

I appreciate you sending over the link. I looked several times today for his website with no success. I was going to come back on here tonight and ask, but there it was.

I am also a fan of Sketchup and it took me quite some time to get used to it. I am still an absolute beginner, but was able to design my living room table and benches on there. So if I can buy plans with Sketchup included, I'm all in!!!

Thanks again!!

Looks like this post has been dormant for about a year and a half? I made the MFTC cart and really like it. Even though the directions and sketchup are in English, the measurements are in metric so be warned about that. Also getting the hardware is a little different. but let your ingenuity guide you. There is a great thread here on the FOG about building that cart and the many versions that have been put together. There is also a thread about Tim's MFSC shop cart in the dealer's area. along with pictures of a recent build. I am now putting together a bench from Tim's shop cabinet plans that I built from my old table-saw off feed. I substituted Ron Paulk's portable shop work table in place of the old off feed table. My work bench is several bays long, about 9 and a half feet. I need to get some track hardware today from Woodcraft and look into some 5mm drawer slide screws. If Woodcraft doesn't have them, there is Rockler. I will add some pictures soon.
