Hi guys, bidding a job to do a small 8x14 cedar deck and stairs and have a couple questions. Client wants the treated stringers clad with cedar to hide the treated. I'm guessing no big deal but has anyone run into issues cladding treated with a cedar 1x?
The other question is regarding guardrails. Client wants Mission style guardrails. Anyone done rails this style and have a pic or reference?
I live in the land of porches. I don't do many decks, that's out in the suburbs. Don't do many porches anymore either since I've done too many in my life and just really despise doing porches. This would be a quick little 3 day job so it works for me.
Thanks for any suggestions, Markus

Cladding shouldn't be an issue.  Though anytime I am sandwiching wood to wood on a deck I use self stick membrane underneath.   Sorry, can't help you with the rail.  There are so many variations.  I usually pick out a few examples from magazines and ask the HO to choose one or a combination of such and go from there.  Or just ask what details they are looking for and sketch...confimrm with the HO and build.

Why not use cedar for the outside stairrail instead of treated. Use 2x12.
