So I just finished this bench over the weekend and oiled it up on Monday. Its made from Meranti. I was very happy with how it came out and maybe once I give presents to everyone I know I'll build something like this for my wife. (I think she's getting ancy):whistling
It was my first big project my my new Festool Domino. I was very pleased. :thumb up: But I don't think that's a very big surprise for the Festool junkies.

Well.... so you want me to tell you about my new addiction to awesome tools? So be it. I used my trion jigsaw to rough cut the templates and pieces which I then used my 1400 router and pattern bits to make the curved and non-straight pieces. I also used my RO 90 and Ro 150 for sanding. and these were of course hooked up to the CT 26. I'm glad I build things for a living to justify all this fun stuff.  And to answer the question about the plans or not. I got the design from a project book. I made some changed to use the Domino. The original was assembled with dowels. I also put the back together with dominos but I think I might change to how the original design was on the next one. Which has dadoing out the runners and having the slats go down into, and up into the dado. There were blocks between. Not sure which is better. The way I did it came out very good so I may stick with that. I can say one thing for sure. I want one of those self centering guides from Rick for making those slats. Next time. I used the narrow holder that came with the domino and worked out ok. It just took a fair amount of time to set it up. |
