Low table top made with TS55
« on: May 11, 2017, 06:13 AM »
Hi Festool Owners,

Here is my last build : a low table made of oak. The special thing is that I use my TS55 to cut the top veneer pattern.

You can see how in this video :

Great video.

It is interesting here that we see another example of how furniture designs/concepts based on some from the 1920/30s, when hand produced today still need exceptional levels of craft, even with current tools.

Congratulations Boris.

I agree that is a really nice looking table and the clamping arrangements are interesting too.
I use the back pull with the TS55 whenever I need to cut laminate faced or veneered board..years of using a panel saw with a scoring blade gave me that idea. A first cut of 1 to 2mm deep backwards then a forward cut at full depth pretty much negates breakout or chipping.
The added benefit is that you don't have to fiddle about getting the kerf of both scoring blade and saw blade to line up 100%, some of the older machines I had to use could take an hour to set up..usually after someone else in the shop had reset it to suit a different blade.
Nice video Boris, some great ideas in there to think on.  [smile]

Boris

Excellent video.  Really like the top design.  That looks to be solid wood veneer of maybe 1/4" thick.

Thanks for sharing!  Love your shop as well!
