I like the ejection mechanism for days when he doesn't want to get up...   [scared]   [poke]

Lol, I was thinking the same thing - quick way to roll him out!
Storage, especially with kids around, is always handy.

Looks really good.

Just one thing you should consider is Piaget's 5th equation of cognitive development;

      Child + hidden compartment = Child in hidden compartment*

Do assess the ability for your grandson, at various ages, to get into the storage box, and then get out again, or at least breath and raise the alarm. I don't mean to be a downer here, and you may have already considered this, but we all need to look at our projects from a safety point of view.

I will love to make something similar to this for my grandson too. It looks amazing. I hope you wouldn’t mind, giving it was your idea?[emoji3]

Sorry for the delay.

I don’t mind at all! My first desire was to stain (dye) the Baltic Birch plywood, and paint everything else, but some epoxy seepage from the mitered/dominoed corners took that option off the table. The next one I build (six grand kids) will have the wood dyed prior to cutting the wood. Maybe that will work.

Great idea!

None of my three oldest kids had any problems when I made theirs 35-31 years ago, mostly because the box served as their toy chest. Those corners weren’t mitered. Just overlapped, glued, and hand nailed, then wipe on stained.

I’m pretty sure this one will be half full or more with toys, keeping him out of the box. But I’ll pass it on to my son and daughter in law if they decide to keep the bed.
