I've been thinking of doing shelves like that, I'm assuming you used dominos.    Is that one big domino or two smaller ones.  I'd like to keep mine adjustable so considering gluing the domino in the bracket, but putting a screw or pin in from the side of the standard.

Yes I used dominoes pin 14x140 mm on each shoulder (see sketch). I like to save the cost of materials, but it is also test for me how long withstand the domino.
If I want adjustment system, I would use steel instead of wood, e. g.:

http://www.wh1.com/site/articledetail/why-do-i-need-cantilever-rack-for-my-operation (http://www.wh1.com/site/articledetail/why-do-i-need-cantilever-rack-for-my-operation)

I'll get to this later.
Now it´s important that I was successful with cleaning up and I can finally work on my primary intention.

Nice day for all.

Where I stopped writing.
I have the old linoleum has made five layers of polymer. And I must say God bless America for the company Butchers. Just do not know why it sold to the Netherlands. But nothing.

I took the production of several closets and kitchens. It will be more than 300 parts. Nothing for Festool tools. It is with him, I can do fine pushcart on the necessary material. and I did. a total of 15 hours of work. I'm worth it. It's fine. Although with what awaits him look like fun.
Racks of bed IKEA fill white plate. (We will see what can withstand 14 mm domino pins.) And next room also full of material. I look forward to when it starts. Before but I have to finish the annual report. Brr!

The next two photos. Shortening domino pins and how it looks when the vacuum cleaner becomes blocked at work.

Good day to you, friends!

No it's not the BS105 systainer, it is as wide as a normal one which is stacked beneath the mistery systainer.
It's also a different article number.

I think it is an older systainer containing a selection of belts but is no longer available anymore.
Just a guess...

This systainer I received when buying grinders in 2010. Was a set with accessories for stationary work. This year was the very generous to on sets, at least in our country. For example, Rotex 150 was sold in one systajner with polishing set including a paste. And the T12 I was getting two sets of bits and drill bits.

Thank you very much, white cabinets on the work of professional painter. I am a beginner in this work. I myself painting only a veneer varnished parts. But I am glad that you like the result.
As regards the material itself is a few layers of paint for cars polished to a high gloss.
It is in our country just enough trends, especially in conjunction with a minimalist design. Therefore now more able painters sprayed more  furniture board than vehicle bodies.

Today I made the first self-injection. It has been shown that in a few details. 1.8 nozzle is excellent for the first two layers of the base (fill points). Surface using DTS 400 and 400 grit Brilant were as smooth as glass. Here I must mention that the work itself DTS 400 I was surprised. Whereas it is only 2 mm stroke I was expecting much more delicate operation, the opposite is true. Spray paints itself using the same nozzle had noticeable signs from the beginning that what we call orange, typical for car refinishing paints lower price range. I did three coats. Tomorrow will come into action a new player. This set was too long lie in store so I got a super price. I do not take pleasure in advance. One more thing.  Poor access to edges caused by poor quality of their surface. I quickly made the one tool that I hopefully improve this part of the work.

Today, I would not write about a little comforted. My joy is immense. I hit a few grains of dust. Then I used abrasive in 1500 and 3000, this time from 3M. Wipe away any remaining dust gray cloth Festool, then polished and paste Festool 8000 sheep fleece. Everything on medium speed. Soft start polisher is amazing. Finally Festool and green microfiber cleaning agent from the set.
The result? If I say that the surface is better than the one I bought It sounds can be immodest, but it's true. I do not know if it is possible to judge from the accompanying photos. What I know is that I'm doing new project itself. And thanks to my teacher in addition to (Technoviking) is the only Tim, your question is move me forward.
Finally, the perspective belongs to the kitchen. I used two layers of base ROBERLO (Spain) and three two-component car paint. I do not know the manufacturer, procure me a colleague. Finally, maintenance gun is not as difficult as I expected.
I wish you all a successful week.

I would like to add a notes VAC SYS:
- I was surprised by its effectiveness. Vacuum is so great that over 18 mm MDF board can still feel the effects on others, laid on top of her,
- shivering, fixed piece is minimal.
- The basic module suction cup mounting is excellent,
- The small suction cup mounting reduces the efficiency, we see it as a direct proportion.
- At 200 x 60mm I registered a slight sliding, fixed object,
- Brilliant handling skills, finally when routing rows of holes I do not have to rotate the board, the same applies when using Lamello cutter. This fact significantly speeds up work on the stage for medium-sized corpora cabinets,
- Operations such as sawing and working with a chisel handles excellently,
- Height allows cooperation with clamps Festool system,
- Control of foot-operated switch is appropriate to fix the floor,
- Do not drop, fixed piece, shortly after turning off the pump,
- The location of the switch on the side systajneru given the usual storage systajnerov little awkward,
My overall impression surpassed expectations with whom I went to his purchase.

Yes Tim. The viability of this tool  prevents me purchase smaller dominoes. Moreover Lamello I bought twelve years back in sale for a really ridiculous price of about $ 10.

This project is in the color of vanilla, is already manufactured exclusively in my small workshop. And this is the same painting parts and melamine components. To achieve the perfect edge I used cutting with the addition of 1.5 mm and then routing edges. Technoviking help me in painting and polishing and it was a pleasure to observe his work. I devoted the rest and assembly. Hooks for hanging is domestic choice.

Is that 'W' shaped item a bookshelf, or just decorative? Also, how did you fasten it to the wall?

alkaline, how do you finish the edges?  That shelf looks really awesome and I want to give painting MDF a go, but I'm still a bit confused on how to treat the edges.

Thanks!

As everybody said, the finish is just great!!
Also the clients enviroment looks high end, I see the work is too [eek]

There are several products that seal the edges on mdf.
They work really well, and give it the same finish as the top.
Look and ask at a paint specialist, sure they have it.

FANTASTIC WORK ALKALINE!

I have a question...is there a clear coat on the wood or is it just glossy paint, then sanded?  I love that glossy look.

Mr. Wow, in our work we do not make anything just for show. Shelf can hold a load of books weighing 15 kg. Is fixed two invisible brackets that are on the market under the name REX.

Eric, I'm flattered. Thank you. The way I started this work is in part described on the previous pages of this thread.
I use material designed for the automotive industry, namely polyester filler and primer filler from ROBERLO and high gloss two-component polyurethane paint for metal.
L5403493 the picture you can be seen locally sealed with edges, resulting from inaccurate work sawing and gluing the resulting shaped shelves (in this I still have room for improvement).
By hand or with DTS 400 (with using 350 to 400 abrasive) make it a perfect edges.
Followed by injection of 3 layers of filler. He is finalized abrasive 800.
Next step is sprayed color and layer 4 in edge and 2-3  on the surface. After curing ( I use two heaters with a temperature of about 50 degrees Celsius) followed by grinding under water with detergents for sediment alleviate. Using 1500, 3000 and 6000 - 3M abrasives.
After sanding, followed polish MPA 6000 or 8000 with orange and dark gray plastic foam using the Rotex 150. Last action is polishing sheepskin using SHINEX RAP 150 and 11000 MPA.
I hope to understand me.

Thank you. Someone recommended edges sealed with tape of the some material. I do not do it. I believe that the MDF for indoor use is sufficiently dimensionally stable. But in the context of further improving the quality I also does not prevent this practice. It also I considers the use of two-component epoxy adhesives is maybe progress.

Thank you. Yes it is a glossy car paint additionally polished. For the future I considering the use of conventional paint with several layers of transparent paint, which will contain trace amounts of black pigment for better clarity.

Love the design of the bench and the workmanship involved. Question; how is the wood expansion contraction is going to affect the miter joints at the corner?
Title: Re: Small pleasures, or what new in the East ...
Post by: alkaline on December 04, 2014, 09:25 AM
I just chose teak with respect to dimensional stability, I hope I will not disappoint. The internal parts are made with dimensions a few tenths of a millimeter smaller. The visual side is completely masked Sikaflex DC 290th
But the truth is that only time will tell as to maintain. In the extreme case I see a solution in its application to the miter.

Not that you need any help from me, you are clearly an outstanding craftsman, but you would get more accuracy if you put the short leg of the protractor against the wood and align the long leg to the pencil line by eye .

Hi Tim.
I used Tandem from BLUM version Tip-On for touch control.
Thank you for your care.
The kids cutter is only game. But seriously. Under low shot cca 1,5mm in a homogeneous material, such as MDF board really do not worry. All the more that he is a trained goldsmith and holds the extraordinary feel for the thing.

Only slow progress in building its vision. It's a fight. But I was able to ensure heat and light. So we can start working.
A few sentences to Kappa. It's an amazing machine. I put imported about cubic meter of  oak planks (55 mm) from the Austrian Alps. Cut up them like butter. Also automatic adjustment when cutting angles are fantastic.
Enjoy your Sunday.

Lincoln.

Hello Lincoln,
I'm not a guy who says  the neighbor's garden is greener. [smile]
But this wood naturally dries more than 10 years. In my country usually dries the artificially and it is the source of most problems that arise from that.
Yes the next projects will be from this oak. Have a nice day you.

I would add, the source is a family company like Felder, which makes things very seriously and prides to itself . Maybe it looks a little old fashioned but I like it. Handshake for me was always more in store than paper with lawyer.

What is the material being sawed in the photo below and what is it used for?

Hi woodguy7,

Thank for your visiting. It is not my victory. One friend of mine is taking part in this competition regularly. The medal is his. Around me there are more such people. This is the reason for the creation of a prototype frame.

Everything is OK. Lightroom is the first program for organizing and editing. The second is Photoscape for adding frames and installation to various parties.

More than one month I spent my time just by sitting at computer. I was drawing and counting and drawing and drinking coffee and drawing and counting again. Meanwhile, sad boards made of melamine were being composed downstairs. So I must've done something by myself and something of wood. But not just some wood. Another stand will be useful. Useful for millions of boards, which will need a place to rest in a bit. It starts to be overstuffed in here.

From its placing on the market, I kept Conturo nicely at the back of my wish list. I always defeat my desire with balance sheet and therefore my wallet stayed safe. Melanin itself also took a place in making a decision. I'm not gonna lie, I don't like this material but it is a standard in Europe so one can't avoid it.
This summer my work mounded to an amount that a professional workroom would give respect for. So the time has come. Welcome to my new toy. The beginnings were a bit shaky but every new piece made me happier. So I can introduce to you first wardrobe made of tandem FORMAT & CONTURO. It's a successful combination.
The library is 1mm oak veneer and 5mm on the edge. Dry montage is  following with pickling and four coats of italien finish Milesi.
In the rest of the pictures I tried to highlight how is it here bursting at the seams. The idea of big workroom is gone.

Have a nice day all of you guys

Under the strict supervision of the Inspector General, we made another small step forward ...
I wish you all a nice day.

Hello,

Could you tell me how this was acheived? Was that an aluminium or steel extusion in the middle?

Hello Ricky L,
I didn't use any inner reinforcement. Handle/ vertical part is bonded by two pieces of nut-wood. I arranged them after sawing up in a way to make them pull against each other. Since  I was working for myself this risk is acceptable and in the same time a source for next examination of shape of constancy of this solution. From a distance of three quarters of the year the gap between the doors is still 4 mm as in the beginning. I'm satisfied.

Many thanks Tim,
I apologise for being late with my response, the time flies unbelievably. I wish you and also to your close people a successful and happy new year.

The end of last year gave me a really hard time. In the beginning of this one the heating in my workshop decided to stop working hence coming back to my playground was a bit slower. I made this sliding door last week and currently I'm working on other door with hidden hinges. It's a new game for me so I'm moving forward carefully. I made myself preparations for milling the hinges and individual parts will soon end up in skilled hands of techno-viking. He will take care of brilliant white surface.
And I will acquaint you with the result soon. Have a nice day all of you.   [wink]

Hi everybody.
The first of May is a holiday in our country. So I can share some pictures.
Tables (12 pieces) were completed and found their place. Even the wenge office is finished. The outdoor kitchen will be completed soon.

Nice day for all FOG members.

Thanks for the post Alkaline - love it (as always!).

Can I ask a question about those tables and your choice of construction technique? I ask because I made a table that also had radiating mitres (but as it was an outdoors table I had gaps between each "ring").

I noticed you cut 16 mitres per table top, and seemed to build it from the centre out. Would it have been easier to make some wide boards first, then cut 4 mitres per table top? Would this have had other problems instead? I am not even close to your level of experience and skill, so would love to learn more about your decisions if you're willing to share.  [smile]

Thank you my friends.

@eddomak you think a great deal of me. I'm just a boy who's playing and learning the hard way. Anyway here are few points which led me during choosing the working method:
1. Customer is not willing to pay for solid oak and his request is to have perfectly smooth surface of the table.
2. With large-scaled materials MDF is used ordinary 0,5 mm veneer. I wanted to use decorative 1 mm thick veneer with beautiful texture.
3. As you could noticed in the outer strip there are 3 pieces of magnets glued inside for connecting the tables into various configurations. I wanted edge band with magnet to be covered by veneer.

That's why I've opted for: the edge band - 2 pieces of 7x36mm with magnets glued in the middle, 4 pieces of 6 mm thick MDF laminations with double side glued veneer of 1mm + middle square. This whole is carried by 800x800mm base board of 19mm.
I can tell that it is a complicated method but if we looking at the shape stability, probably the most reliable one. Solid oak could cause some problems in composition like this by the time.
Next complication was client's requirement for table reassembling in order to be able to transport it.
Here I was glad to use connecting system by Festool and I need to acknowledge that it works perfectly. Anyway thanks to it one table is composed of 108 pieces and all (12 tables) of 1296 pieces and that's quite slaughtering. I believe that it will serve well the owner for years.
Thank you for your interest and wish you good luck with your own projects.

The greatest opponent is probably a man for himself, is not he?  [wink]

Today I have a great joy. I would set up a thread of nice old machines but I will put it here. I have the honor to introduce to you the mother of all track saws. And she makes clean cuts in melamine. Festool can only dream about. It's eighteen years back. Holzher produced beautiful machines for the carpenters. The price at that time for me was investment capital. I sold the stereo in my car for her.   I lost her years ago. A now is here. Her condition is desperate, but I'll change it. Nice day to everyone.

@Linbro my saw came back after 15 years. It is fully functional. But in my world it will rest. Well-cleaned in the illuminated display case.

@syr  Yes. Festool has purchased a larger portion of the Holzher manual power tool program. It's a pity that this type of saw has ended. It was never a replacement for the format saw, but it worked great. Especially when there is a need for clear cuts in the field.
Right now I'm a biker without a bike. But I'll change it soon.

@ScotF I have the same opinion on this point. Tools must work!

Hello everyone,

I used this design several times in the past, but now I wanted to go to the edge of the construction. It was a couple of cups of coffee.

Everything starts with classics. The TS-55 is always excited when it can cut as beautiful wood as this walnut from Italy.

I have prepared basic pieces.

Then came the coincidence. Here are told: The fool is have lucky.

I will soon continue...

This new set of connectors, which is not yet on sale, came into my hands.

It is designed for materials with 18 mm thickness and significantly extends the design possibilities.

Especially great is the use of 5 mm holes in the 32 mm guide rail.

With the clamex combination is perfect for on-site mounting.

My main intention was to create a fine design with a discreet opening. Thanks to the new kit from Festool, I did it without much effort.[attachimg=1][attachimg=2][attachimg=3][attachimg=4][attachimg=5][attachimg=6][attachimg=7][attachimg=8][attachimg=9]

@alkaline

Thanks for posting your use of the new D500 connectors. Outstanding work as usual.

I can see already how they will assist you in tranfering customer orders from your Shop to their premises.

As yet Tooltechnic [Festool's Aust. Importer] have not announced a release date for these in Australia. I see these connectors are to be released in the US on April 2.

I am looking fwd to using them in a forthcoming kitchenette/bathroom project which MsUntidy is currently designing.

Hi guys,

thank you for all the nice words. I feel like I have not done anything interesting in wood for a long time. but with a distance I think I made some photos you might like.

Nice turning jig, I'll definitively lift the concept and build me one...

What did you use to fill the seams in the garden table?

Please use a pushstick (at least for the photo, so I don't see your fingers flying in my mind).
