Not a ton of pics during the build since I had only a little over a week to complete and install this project.
I don't know how I made any money on inset jobs prior to owning a ts55. Sizing the doors to the openings with it was just too easy!
A little tricky since the wall cabinets had to be built separately in order to get them upstairs, yet still look like it was only one cabinet once installed.

Thanks Bob! A neat little trick I was taught back in the day was to rip a thin strip of laminate and sandwich it between to the two end panels when attaching the faceframes in the shop. Then when out in the field, remove the laminate to ensure a nice tight fit.
Eric, that's definelty the c12/Cxs combo. Great install combo.

Yes, there is a pocket screw (and some glue) which hold/pull the joint tight. On wider faceframes, I would use a domino as well to assist with alignment. Since these were only 1 1/2 wide there really wasn't that much room for both.

It's possible to do with prefinished cabinets as well, which I've done many times. Makes it easier on homeowners/clients when they don't have to deal with the smell or hassle of painting them once they are installed.

Tim, yes it is poplar. I can buy s4s poplar pretty cheap at a local mill, so all I really have to do is rip it to width amd I'm good to go. Much easier for me since I don't really want to run a planer every time I have a job, especially since I don't own one! They are so loud, I am afraid my neighbors would freak out and it would be the last straw. Glass is going ing the doors (well, its already in, see pics. Job complete I hope. The painters screwed the pooch, and I'm not happy with the paint job. But since it wasn't part of ly contract, I guess its not my problem. Its just frustrating to build something only to have it ruined by others. Jon |

That room has superbowl party written all over it. It's a renovation above a detached garage. The builder actually lifted the roof off with a crane, installed the walls systems and reinstalled the roof in the same day!
Yup, lacquer. Runny, Orange peel, crappy lacquer. darn it.

Classy. Dude, sorry to hear about the paint job. You need to get someone good, who you can trust and sub it out on your own. I find that people would rather use your guy if hes good and pay an honest mark up rather then finding someone on their own, who they dont know about. Call your local Benjamin Moore dealer and ask them to give you three references of guys who could handle your jobs. Try to check out their work and prices and go with one. Probably go better then what you just got, if not keep the other two numbers handy. Ive met some of my best subs by accident, Eric

Eric,
I've got a great finisher, but the contractor wanted to use his painter so he could keep the markup. It's frustrating, but at the end of the day, its no longer my problem. He can deal with it.

BuilderBob and i actually met at the local Woodcraft bc I had a Festool t shirt on. We realized we were both on the forum and its been the classic romance from there. We live twenty minutes away. I met all the other guys at JLC Live and Festool Connect.

Glass went in after doors were painted. I used clear caulk to prevent the glass from rattling, then install glass stop (3/16 x 3/16) painted stock to secure the glass from the back side.

Jon, nice job again! It's impossible to see the paint snafu...fortunately it's not on you but I've had similar situations and it's pretty darn disheartening! I love the look of the square ff and square door/drawer inset...wicked classy!
We wish you were up here!!! We have a neat group of foggers within a few states...we can always use more!

Jon, Nice looking work. Wondering if you could elaborate on your TS55 comment above and how you sized your doors. Thanks, Steve Steve, I strive to make my openings perfectly square. But I also order my doors a little oversized (a 1/16 heavy) just in case the doors (or god forbid my openings) are a little out of square. Once the doors are hinged, I can easily shave as little as a 1/64" with the ts 55. Before I owned one (and worked in a mill shop), the SOP was to use a large belt sander to size the doors. Using the 55 is faster, and gives you much more control over how much material you want to remove. Hope this makes sense, and don't hold it against me that I no longer make my own doors. I made too many to count in a former life and I'm over it.  Plus, it frees me up to do other things. Jon |

At first I thought you had hit on a method to overlay the doors on the FF and cut them to size and make the reveal with one plunge  No worries on the doors. Finished pictures!
Unfortunately, I got a call yesterday and was informed that the icemaker would not fit. The designer spec'd a 15" opening...but it was a sub-zero which required a 15 1/4 opening. Somehow, I got the far left cabinet out, cut 5/16 off the filler and reinstalled it in less than an hour. I guess its true when they say that sometimes its better to be lucky than good.
