Wood Trim Attachment
« on: May 30, 2018, 09:09 PM »
I’m helping some young friends finish their kitchen. They installed tile on the wall and want wood trim along the edges of the tile. I’ve made the trim out quarter sawn white oak. It’s about 1.25” by 0.5”. The trim runs average about 60”. The trim over laps the tile about 0.25” to hide the tile irregularities.

What’s the best way to attach the trim to the wall? It’s a very old inexpensive fixer upper house and I have no idea if the kitchen wall is dry wall or plaster. I guess a very fast acting adhesive would work if I knew what to buy.

I need some expert advice.

I’d use hot melt. Inexpensive, easy and something for the DIY’er, if the substrate you’re adhering the wood to is solid and clean.

Liquid Nails Fuze It or similar adhesive that is somewhat flexible.  Add a few pins to hold the trim while it dries.
