Rolair Airstack

Those who have pulled the trigger. How are they working out?  With the Cadex dissapointnrnt a year ago I figure I would hold off a few months before pulling the trigger in case they had any performance issues.

Have they been available yet?  I haven't seen them anywhere for sale yet, just pre-order from US places last I looked but I largely stopped looking when I bought the Cadex SYS4 unit in March.  Still, I am curious to see what the Airstack will be priced at here in Canada which I've not been able to find so far.

I kinda researched it to death and felt the Cadex would be a lot better overall than the Rolair anyways.  I wasn't in a hurry for either,  and have only used it once since I got it, but one retailer had it priced much lower than another place at the time that was offering them, and has since raised the price, so I'm glad I bought it in March.  I paid $749 CAD for it.  I did ask the retailer in speaking with them on the phone when did they receive them, and while I question it, I was told they got them last fall.

The date keeps getting pushed out.  The initial release was originally set for April 15th.  It has been slipped out at least three times and the latest estimate that I saw is now June 15th.  Any bets?

I researched the specs and wound up cancelling my pre-order.  While I really like the form factor, the dB rating, CFM, tank size are all inferior to the Rolair JC10 Plus which costs half the price of the Airstack.  I'm looking forward to reviews, but I no longer see an Airstack in my future.

I have a 10 year old JC10.  I installed an app on my phone called 'Sound Meter' and tested them both.  They pretty well came out at the same DB rating.

One major diff was initial load up time from empty.  Rolair was a minute.  The Cadex SYS4 was 15 seconds.  The fact that even with an overall tank size being larger in the Rolair, with a 60% duty cycle and the ability to run at 100% for 3 a hour span if needed, the Cadex is the winner in this regard.

Haha. I gave up following either arrival months ago. I just assumed the Rolair had their stuff together and released them a few months ago.

So Cadex is only available in Canada?

My JC 10 has led an abused life and started to make funny noises recently. Its 5 years old and pretty beat up. A great little compressor but if I could get that performance in a systainer for job site convenience I’ll spend the extra cash.

I love my Cadex guns so if I could grab their SysIV model that would be awesome also.

They ship from Toronto all over the world.

I've been buying from them without a problem ever for close to twenty years.  Satisfied customer only - no other affilliation.

Here's the Cadex SYS4 at $799 CAD.

And as Gomer Pyle used to say....'surprise, surprise', look what I just spotted ....

And it looks to be in stock as well.

As they say in their shipping blurb, they're not responsible for BS brokerage fees and cross border duties and taxes.  Here in Canada, ordering from the US is a hit and miss proposition with that, even on piddly items with getting hit with charges like that at the door.  One thing I do try to do when ordering cross border is to see if they ship via USPS as there is a reciprocal agreement with our Canada Post here in Canada which usually will just entail an additional fee of a flat $5 for the customs brokerage fees.  Not sure if on an $800 CAD item whether that applies though.  Note:  here in Canada, Purolator is owned by Canada Post.  I only mention that as I've had USPS shipped goods arrive at the door in a Purolator van.  Not sure if a shipper uses Puro here to ship to the US whether the item routes to USPS and thus possibly gets that aforementioned favourable reciprocal brokerage fees agrement pricing.

Brokerage fees with UPS, Fedex etc can be stupid nonsense money.  25 to 50 is not unusual, but on some occasions, I've not been charged anything.  Lioe I said, it can be hit and miss.  You also don't always get nailed at the door.  Sometimes the fee arrives as a bill later in the mail.   And at that value, don't be surprised if you get hit with some kind of duty tax, or state tax possibly also.

Right now 800 CAD is 616 USD and 600 CAD is 462 USD.
