DeWalt Brushless Impact Driver
«

Anyone tried the new brushless DeWalt impact driver?
http://www.dewalt.com/brushless
I need something fairly compact with a 1/4" ball detent quick change chuck. Festool only has the centrotec thing so it's out. The interesting new Metabo doesn't seem to have a belt hook so it is out also. This one seems to meet all of my needs. Has three speed/torque setting. They show it driving little pan head screws on a Blum Tandem drawer glide locking device, without stripping.

Looks good.
From a distant viewpoint, it appears Dewalt are a company that can at least see the threat of Festool quality to the local market place ... imagine if buyers ultimately polarise on high end or junk - with it being bad to be caught out in the middle.
If I saw that Dewalt in a shop locally, I'd certainly pick it up and play with it!
Real shame you guys don't have Protool!

This is definitely a response to makita and milwaukee's brushless technology. Although most people have at least a dewalt tool or two, i don't think dewalt marketers are trying to compete with the festool crowd. Its all for the specs in tool reviews.

Just pulled the trigger on one yesterday
Sadly Amazon says 2-4 weeks out.
I'll let you know how it is when I get it.

Festool will never get the market share that Dewalt has in this country, price being a large part of it. Dewalt without a doubt makes good tools so it's hard to beat the prices.
