I was wondering if anyone had successfully used one of these? I'm currently looking at one made by a company called PWM, the
Cyclone Dust Free Cutting/sawing Guard.

Typically I'd be using it to cut regular width and depth slots into render/stucco movement cracks - so it needs to enable me to follow the cracks accurately, cut uniform slots and give me dust extraction with a suitable extractor.

I'd rather keep it to the smaller size angle grinder, as I already have a 125mm grinder, with it's own cowl over a diamond grinding diamond cup, which is a bit of a beast to handle. [eek]

I'm based in UK.

Good morning Simon

I just sold my Hilti grinder that had a dust collection shroud, otherwise I would post a picture for you to see.   It was used / designed for tuck-pointing masonry and it worked well.  Is Hilti sold in the UK?  Like all Hilti stuff the shroud accessory was spendy but it did work well and certainly was worth the money each time we cut masonry with it and didn't get engulfed in clouds of dust.

Thanks Rob, Hilti is available in the UK. I'll look into whether it can be retro fitted on a Metabo or Bosch 4.5 inch/115mm angle grinder.

One model I have my eye on is the Dust Director made in the U.S. - though again a little pricey to get over here. I like this one

because its design allows an unobstructed view of the crack being worked on.

Hi again Simon

The Hilti dust attachment didn't have  a clear "line-of-sight" opening, but it did have a indicator mark on the outside that at least gave a reference of where the blade was within once the whole thing was buried in the cut.  As I recall, it had incremental adjustment for depth up to one inch/25 mm.

I'll take a look at the Dust Director...that isn't one I seen.

Did you get a chance to look at the dust director Rob?

Nobody else here got a suggestion?  [huh]

Good morning Simon

The Dust Director looks like it's a better product than the Hilti attachment that I used to own.  I like how easy it is to see the blade.   Check this video to see if this is what you have been referring to in this thread.

This almost makes me want to do this type of work again......well, maybe not, but you get the idea. [big grin]

The Dust Director does look like a simple but effective solution to the line of sight and effective extraction problems of this sort of work - the only problem  for me, is I'm also looking for something which allows for adjustment of the depth of cut, as well! There's a PWM Cyclone Dust Free Cutting Cowl that may suit the purpose, I'm off for a couple of days so will ring and enquire. Your last sentence had me smiling and understanding - I know exactly what you mean. [big grin]
