Looking for a rotary laser
« on: September 07, 2017, 08:08 PM »
I just started a kitchen remodel job where the customer added installing crown in the living room.  Kicker is the room is 35x28 with a ~13' ceiling. Historic huge 1880's home converted to condos in the '80's.  Two piece and I have some 12' high window trims I need to plan around.

A rotary laser is going to be a must I think and plenty of room in the budget for one.    I have two hilti three axis line lasers but never purchased a rotary.

Any good suggestions?  I will also be using this for outdoor site work at some point. Im reading green is the new IN color. Is it worth the extra money?  I have purchased enough Hilti hammer drills, jackhammers and concrete anchoring products to know they make good stuff just not sure I want to drop $1600 on this.

Anybody have opinions on other companies?  The new dewalt looks cool just not sure I want to buy one of their first production runs.

Thanks.

DeWalt has been selling rotary lasers for a few years now, so they have some history with them.

I have a Bosch myself and it works OK for my needs. It's a red laser and I don't use it outside.
Has a remote control and target and came in a blow-molded case in which everything snaps into
its storage space and it travels well. I've had it about 4 years now and don't use it too often, maybe
once a month on average. It's still working like new but then it is basically new since it has not been
used that much.

I've had PLS lasers since they came out and they work great.  I mostly use mine for installing automatic sliding door entrances.  Also have the Bosch GL3 and like it a lot, nice thing about the Bosch is that you can lock the vertical line for displaying angles.
