Okay, Let's give this poll thing a try. Shop4tools.co.uk will ship them to me and I will forward them to you from PA (for cost of rule + ship). They need to know qty's of each size to give me a price and shipping charges. So let me know what you want & I'll report back on the price. Info on the product is hereScott W.

In the previous thread, which spurred this terrific idea by Scott, I have posted some comparison notes and pictures showing the size difference between the models. I was going to include a shot with a Talmeter in hand but it is 01.43 AM my time and I am a bit slow so I am better off going to bed. See: http://festoolownersgroup.com/index.php?topic=2681.60

Sadly, the tape pingvinlakrits likes is no longer available. I see that Shop4Tools has an Imperial scale version (10 foot) of the 3.1 meter tape. It's orange, the opposite of blue. It's also counter to the overall flow of this thread but maybe it should be an option too?

No Problem, I have added the option to the poll Scott W. Looks like you only get to vote once so can't add another size.

Mike, When I set it up it gave me an option to let people choose x amount of options. I selected 3 because there were 3 sizes. Edit will not let me change this option - it doesn't even show up If you selected less than 3 the first time delete your vote & see if you can select it - if you want all 4 types we'll take care of it when I place the order. This is just to get a count for estimated shipping & to see if we can get a little discount. Scott

Okay Guys, We are ready to order! Here's the scoop, 1. They are willing to give us a 10% discount for a group order. 2. Shipping to PA works out to $2.50 per rule at the current qty. 3. There will be a wire transfer fee from my bank should be less than $1.00 per rule 4. The current exchange rate is 1.9845:1 you may as well say 2 to 1 I will front the $$ for the order and have them shipped to me. (you guys are good for it, Right? ) I will ship them to you for cost of shipping cost depends on how many you ordered and where you are. Here's what I need: PM me with what you want and your address and contact info so I can place the exact order. Thanks, Scott W.

Thanks
Vijay
Vijay this should be pretty close: 2.1m - 9.0GBP = $18.00 - 1.80 (discount)+ 2.50 international freight + 1.00 wire fee = 19.70 excluding domestic freight 3.1m - 11.50GBP = $23.00 - 2.30 (discount)+ 2.50 international freight + 1.00 wire fee = 24.20 excluding domestic freight 6.1m -24.50GBP = $49.00 - 4.90 (discount)+ 2.50 international freight + 1.00 wire fee = 47.60 excluding domestic freight 10ft - 11.50 GBP = $23.00 - 2.30 (discount)+ 2.50 international freight + 1.00 wire fee = 24.20 excluding domestic freight Obviously if all those who used the pre-order poll do not order (or if more do) it will effect the freight and maybe the discount. Scott W. Net cost of the 3.1 meter should be $24.20, same as the 120" tape.

For those of you who have ask about how to pay me, the answer is "I don't know yet" First all I need is your order AND your contact info and shipping address.I have only heard from 5 out of 19 so far... Once everyone has "committed" I will send the order off & let you guys know how to pay. I would like to get them ordered quickly, as I will be out of the country from the 23 thru the end of the month and would like to get them on the way before I leave. Thanks Scott W.

I am leaving for Beijing in the morning and have not yet ordered the rules. I decided to wait until I return to give the last six who said they wanted them but have not yet sent me a PM with their order to do so.
I would appreciate it if someone would bump this thread now and then while I am away in hopes that the remaining folks will PM me their order.
Thank you,
Scott W.

I am leaving for Beijing in the morning
Check out the restaurants in the Hou Hai area (the "back lake" area just north of Hou Hai Lake) north of Beihai Park, which is north of Tiananmen Square. Also just west of the Drum and Bell Towers. There is a fantastic Hunan restaurant there which specializes in the spicy cuisine of Mao's hometown. Have a great trip and thanks again for working out the tape deal.

Thanks for the suggestion Michael, I am familiar with the black lake area. This will be my 22nd (I think) trip to China, I go at least twice a year, and the flight seems to get longer each time . I will only be in Beijing for one day then will be heading south to the trade fair in Guangzhou. Do you go for Business? Scott W.

I've only been to China four times and enjoyed each trip, but 22 is a lot! That's starting to sound like work. It's not exactly business for me but so far we've been able to deduct the expenses. My wife is working on a documentary on Chinese kite makers, and I help. One of the exceptional kites that got me interested is this wind turbine actuated animated mantis, This kite is hand made of bamboo and silk. The "teeth" strapped to the bamboo wheels to create gears are simply copper wire bent with needle nose pliers. The axle is a bit of paper clip wire. You can't tell from these two pictures but he is also a superb painter. There is more at the website.

Hi all, I made it back from the East last night and will be placing the order on Monday (after the jet lag wears off ) We are still missing 5 of the original people who participated in the purchasing poll but I believe we have waited long enough for everyone to get in. I Will place the order and wire the money on Monday morning so if you want in just PM me with your order and contact/shipping info. After I know the exact final costs I'll let all who ordered know how to send payment. Thanks to those who bumped the thread during my absence. Scott W.

If there is someone missing out on the offer I might be able to scrounge up a few Talmeters in addition. Scott is making you guys a great service on a good product - I foresee a conversion to the metric side of things. Metric is so easy that once you have had your break in period you might not want to go back..

All Talmeters are gone, but if there are any Canuck people wanting one or two I might be able to bring a few on my trip to Edmonton in July/August. I'll be spending a few weeks with some canadian friends and I h ave one or two spares at home (Blue 3.1M and a Green 2.1M) and I could get hold of one more Blue I think. Henrik

I'm in Maryland USA. I might see if I can order one from back home (England) and get it shipped over here as a last resort.

Thanks, Scott!
I just got my Talmeters, and the thinking that's gone into making these subtly much more than just a tape measure is really cool! I'm very happy to have added these to my toolbox. You rock!

Maybe not better, but different. And some unique features.
Nickao
Ok Nickao. I am up for some education. Please elaborate the different ways it can be used? I got the fact that it has unique inside measurement capability. Also diameter. Anything else I am missing? (I have the 3m tape). I dont like the fact that it has mm graduations only on the bottom (due to the fact that the diameter graduations fill the top), but I guess that diameter is important to some people. Vijay

Just in case your memory is as bad as mine, in the end I opted to pay via Paypal so that is one less check to locate.
