Why is because the depth of the bit insertion it is slightly greater for the Centrotec
and the universal 1/4" hex bits could get stuck or at least be difficult to remove if
they did fit into the Centrotec holder.

Peter did a nice explanation of the system a while back.

That said I wish there was a better Centrotec to 1/4" hex adapter than the one
that Festool supplies, but I understand why they don't offer one.

The axminster trade bitz bitholders link Have a rounded hexagonal shaft and 2 ball detent grooves, so they fit both centrotec and standard impactdriver chucks. But they do have a bit more play in the centrotec chuck, so I prefer to use the festool bitholders in the centrotec.

Snappy also offers some centrotec compatible bitholders, I still need to get me one; the main advantage of these is that they lock in ball-detent bits.

I notice you cannot even fit a Dewalt etc Bit holder into the Centrotec , They are a fraction too big. I just want save a little money and have 3-4 "preloaded " ready for action !

If you get the snappy centrotec bitholder, it acts as a chuck for the other bitholders.
Because it works as a balldetent holder, it acts like a chuck on an impactdriver,  it locks the other bitholder in, so it won't feel like working with two bitholders plugged in to eachother.

Festool supply centrotec 1/4" bit holders, in both basic and locking styles:

I've had the snappy for a couple months,  the other day the shaft snapped on it.  Not sure if it's covered under any warranty.  I do like it and will buy another one.

The BH-60 came with my T15.
The BHS-65 looks more like what I want.
Thanks, I'll check it out.

This is what made me look at standard options for drills that work with 1/4" bits.

A drill was one of the first Festool things I wanted to get, but the more I looked it became clear that it was "A system" which was different from the worldwide standard.

Luckily there are many good drills these days.

I wish the Centrotec chuck was as good as the Wiha centrofix bit holder (71480), also found on the newer Festool screwdriver in the 98-piece installer set.  That bit holder accepts both regular 1/4" and Centrotec bits and holds both tighter than even a Centrotec bit/drill in a Festool Centrotec chuck.  With the Wiha, there is zero wobble, and with the Festool centrotec chuck, there is just a slight wobble.  Right now one is limited to using this bit holder with a jacobs chuck.  Would have been really nice if somehow someone could design a chuck with the grabbing power and versatility of the Wiha, but with the short length of the Festool chuck.

Ideally someone could do a comparison in the 10.8V range.

The Metabo PowerMaxx BS and the Mafell A10M I believe differ in:
1) Systainer versus Metabo box
2) No bit holder with the Metabo (??)

I got three of the bit holders:

The Cnetrotec bits fit well enough and all the 1/4"gear fits like a champ.
The green-lipped Centrotech bit holder also fits.
I have no idea about whether the Wira holder fits... ??

I got a used Festool offset chuck but it was slightly too small to fit so I donated to my Festool-tragic friend.

I like it with the small battery for general work.
