I got to use Steve Bace's 26" square at the Advanced Router Class in Las Vegas last November (terrific class, by the way) and was really impressed with how useful it was. I voted to have Woodpeckers bring them back, so I placed my order today. I'm glad to see they are bringing back some of the better one time tools.

So they are really worth $170? Tom I bought the 26" square last July when they were first offered and to answer your question - YES. It is large enough and heavy enough to make crosscuts with the rails very fast and accurate. It also is great for squaring up the MFT/3.

They have also added an 18" version of the "framing square " to the one time offer. The 26" is a BIG, and useful square. Trying to decide if I need the 18" since I have the 18" Carpenter triangle ? hmmmmmm.

It is funny I had just voted on this tool last week, when I got my Festool track saw. Now I can't decide if I should get the 18 or 26". Seems like there wouldn't be many cases where i'd need the 18, that I couldn't do with some other tool. But my main function for the 26" would be aligning the track or drawing long layout lines.

Hi, Welcome to the FOG! If you are deciding between the 18 and the 26, get the 26. The extra length is reeaaly good to have especially using it with guide rails and sheet goods. Seth

Like Seth - I have the big 18" carpenter's triangle and use it all the time to square my MFT/3 and for many other tasks. Just not seeing a need to get the new big square. I love the triangle as it self supports vertically as well as providing self support horizontally like the new squares.

Seth, are you actually considering getting the 26 when you already have the 18 carpenters? I have the 18 and feel that it is the perfect fit with the Festool system. Have never wished it to be longer, Eric

I have the 26" "framing style" and the 18" Carpenters style already. The 18" framing style is calling to me , but it is not a need item especially since I have the others already. Seth

Well I went with the 26. I could see the 18 being adequate, but I couldn't see a situation where the 26 was 'too big'. So, I went with the bigger one so it'd be more than adequate. Thanks for the photo Gpowers, that was helpful!

I just ordered the 26". 2 years ago I would have laughed at someone spending that much money on a "framing square". Festool, Lie Nielsen, BCTW and Woodpecker have totally ruined my perspective.

Used the square for Domino placement today. There are several similar methods (straight edge clamp, gudie rail, etc) but thought I'd give the square a try. The scale makes precise placement very easy.

Hi guys I'm new here posting my 1st post. Just thought I'd say I've been slabbing up 30 odd 626mm doors today using my Stanley adjustable stock 300mm roofing square against the guide rail & it worked a treat, @ around £20.00 when bought seems good value looking at the cost of some of the squares being mentioned
