Remember--if you're looking for a typical tourist photographer, I'm not your guy.  Tongue Out But I enjoyed these particular ones. Especially the first two:

A mashed bicycle wheel that plays strange games with your mind:

The ceiling of the Parthenon:

Two shots of the Coliseum:

Great pix, David!

I spent quite a bit of time working in Italia and don't remember vandalism. Where are the butterflies?

In an alley in Rome, near the Vatican. They're all faux butterflies to be used as fridge magnets. Smiley

I thought the bicycle looked faintly familiar also.

I thought maybe it was Barcelona until I reread the subject. It reminds me of Dali or Gaudi.

Bicycle shot is great, and yes Tom, is Dali-esque.  As an avid cyclist, anything with two wheels fascinates / intrigues

Michaelangelo's David, carved from one piece of solid marble 17' high. I had to sit on the floor and rest my camera on my leg and guess at the framing and use the alternate shutter release on the bottom of the camera while I pretended to do something else (pictures are a no no).

Hopeful candles against the colorful bokeh of the nave:

All natural colored marble:

All these were taken in Florence.

Bob, it's a Canon 1DsMarkII, and most of these were shot with a 50mm f/1.2.

Lovely pics - thanks for sharing!

That bicycle shot is awesome. Great composition and.... um....
<slightly embarrassed disclaimer: not sure of the right word here....>
saturation (?) depth(?)

Just curious - did you have the camera set to shoot B&W?
Or shoot in color and process it after?
Seriously, those blacks look good enough to eat. :-)

I shot them in RAW (color), and then converted them to black and white using Nik software.

Glad you enjoyed them!

Fantastic photos. You have a great eye. Just one correction, your photo is of the Pantheon, not the Parthenon temple which is in Greece.

Always like looking at your photography.
That shot of David is great. Being there I know it's difficult to get the shot you got.

AMAZING pics.  I've always wanted to go to Italy.  The architecture alone would be worth the trip.  Just a quick FYI, the second pic is a shot you took of the oculus in the Pantheon, the Parthenon is in Greece.

Been a couple of times in Italy, it sure is a very nice country for holidays. When I was young I went there often with my family to lake Garda, and when I was older I went to Rome with my friends. That last one was one of my most unforgettable hollidays.
