Just a couple photos
« on: December 30, 2014, 11:41 AM »
Took some time away last night from my favourite tools to take some photos of my son with my favourite camera.
Cheers,

Thanks Mick. I use a Nikon D3S with a f2.8 300mm VR lens. I shot at f2.8, ISO 2000 at 640. Hockey arenas have lousy lighting.

Wow, very nice!

The f/2.8 300mm is a rare bird. I've borrowed my father's f/2.8 70-200mm for a few vacations, love that thing.

Thanks for the compliement. I have the 70-200 as well. I use it mostly for the taller players at the rink. For young players I sue the 300mm as they ar not that tall and fill the lens. I go back and forth between the 2 lens. When I have more money I will purchase a D4S and mount the 300mm on it permantly and have the 70-200 on the D3S. Always better two have 2 bodies.
Happy New Year,
JC

Here is a couple more. I really enjoy photographing minor hockey, almost as much as woodworking.

As a former tender... that last shot is how 90% of mine went... eyes closed, cover the jewels.

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers.  Bryan.

People, I just want to say, you know, can we all get along? Can we get along?

It's amazing how many goaltenders close their eyes just as they are about to get hit. Even players that have 10+ years of experience.Mind you this puck is probably travelling at 80 mph. I have one photo I took a few years ago of a goalie actually ducking just before the puck hit him in the head. If I find it I will post it.

I played for a long time (from youth on up) and have a picture (on film) somewhere of one of the face mask "rods" that was bent from a shot.  I also had a broken collarbone from a shot that came off a ricochet that got between the pads.  Great sport...

cheers.  Bryan.
