Ya Gotta Post Pics!!!
OK, we have a new forum. Discussing Festool tools and what you can do with them is MUCH better with pics! So, take your digicam, take some pics, and post em'.
For example, below is my table saw. OK, it's an MFT table and it's a TS55 saw. You cut wood on a table. Right? So it's a table saw. And... You can tote it up to your Master Bathroom which you are remodeling.
Get my point?!?

Speaking of photos...
Please note that I've also installed the "Gallery" feature. This allows members to upload photo galleries to the forum for everyone to see.
Look near the top of the forum window for the word "Gallery." It is located between the "Members" and the "Logout" features.

Matt,
I just tried to upload a pic to the gallery and wasn't able to. I filled out everything I could, but after hit the post picture button, I get an error message that said I needed to pick a category. Well, there weren't any choices for the categories. There's a drop down menu, but its empty.
Did I do something wrong, or is there a glitch?

Since this thread is about posting pic's, why not give some directions? I stumbled my way through it but I'm not sure if I'm doing it the best way. Tried the "insert image", pain in the butt, then found the "add attachment" feature. Is there a certain size for the pic's that works best?

Posting pics is challenging, because they have a size limitation (around 120 KB). And it isn't apparent to me how to get the pics reduced down to this size without a great deal of trial and error. I just bought adobe PS elements 5 and their format uses ppi, and the ability to adjust pixel width and height of a given photo, but the ppi changes along with the width and height adjustments, which keeps the total KB of a photo nearly constant. I know that I'm missing something, but I don't have a manual and and the help files don't address this.

Les,
I'm planning three tutorials:
1. Basics of taking pics
2. Basics of post processing
3. Modifying pics for the web and uploading
I had planned to start these this week, but I'm been massively busy. Here's a quick summary.
In general, the keys are to start with a decent pic (#1), post process it make it better (#2), and then downsize it to keep it within space constraints. The max size pic to attach is 225KB. My personal preference is to keep the pic at about 800X600 max so that it's viewable on all screens. If it's much larger than that, some people won't be able to fit see the entire image on their screens. Then, attach the image.
To crop and resize, my preference for a light-weight photo editor is PhotoShop Elements.

Art, Open and image, post process to taste, resize to something like 800X600, and then: Go to File -> Save For Web. Finalize the size adjustment there to get it under the file limit. (It looks like the file limit has been raised to 225KB.) Dan. p.s., I use PhotoShop CS3 beta. I'll try to get a copy of PhotoShop Elements 5 this weekend for the tutorials, and then post a quick "Upload tutorial". |

Yes, I raised the limit for each photo attachment to 225KB. However, people should do what they can to reduce photo size. The goal is to have a quality photo for viewing, but take up the least amount of space. In my experience, you can usually post a high-quality photo for screen viewing with 150KB or less.
