So, im just mooved in to a new house and i am in the works of setting up my new little "shop" in the basement. My task at the moment is to install some sort of dust collection "system". i only have a shop vac with auto start function, like the festools, but from nilfisk, and i was thinking about fixing some standard size vacuum house around the shop, and my maybe install some gates, or just swap connections for diferent tools. My problem then arrived, as it is almost impossible to find vacuum hose in bulk. is it just me searching with the wrong descriptions in English/Norwegian, or is it actualy that hard to acquire? Most searches give results for spare hoses to standard vacuums, but they cost too much and are too short for my use. Please help me o´ knowledged people of FOG, i bet i am not the only that has been in this predicament oh, and btw Hello, long time reader, newly bitten, Fog´er...that darn ts55 is a gateway drug (of1010 on the way)...why oh why did i not buy the Bosch version... Hi Kristoffer Festool sell all their hoses by the metre. Or perhaps somewhere like axminster here in the UK would be somewhere to look they do ship outside of the UK  |

the best place i found to get roughly 36mm hose is a carboot sales or at the local electrical appliance drop off places. go there and get the hose from the vaccume cleaners there. they wont cost you much if at all at the dump. some vacs have long hoses and most people dump the whole lot if the get a new one.
iv got 4-5 hoses that way. some fit the ct22 , some fit the festool hose ends, and some dont fit properly at all bit can be bodged onto things. 50mm i cant find cheap , you can buy it from festool. maybe if you want a dedicated 500m line you should go 63mm and get a proper dust extractor for that size. you can buy dc pipes and fittings for that easily.

PVC pipe is ideal for long runs - easy to secure and cheap. That said, any run length creates drag (hose, pipe, anything) you could go to a lot of effort, only to find your web of vacuum plumbing doesn't offer enough suction.

Hi!
I've got My dustextraction, gates and hose 100mm from Jula, i think they have a few stores in Norway (check out their website jula.no or the Swedish site). It's a decent price there. I connected the hoses to PVC pipes 110mm which I've runned around the shop. At all Gates I've reduced the size depending of what machinery that's connected. Here you can get the pipes as well for reducers, t-connectors and so on in standard sizes 110, 75, 50 and 40mm. The 100 mm gates fits quite god inside the 110mm pipes. One concern is static that can build up in the PVC pipes but it hasn't been an issue for me. If you don't want to spend your money on a festool hose get a long one for a central vac and try and fit the festool toolconnector on that hose. As for starting and stopping the dust.extr you can get a remote for power outlets, just make sure it can handle the powerload.

Yeah Viking, i should get a dedicated dust extractor with some more power, but with time...this will be a start with what i have. and the lengths are short enough for my vacuum to suffice ( i hope ). but pvc piping aint that bad of an idea..hmm |
