Depth and slide strength for systainer shelves
« on: June 05, 2015, 08:43 AM »
Was planning a version of the Chaos Wall for my shop, and was going to integrate systainer storage along the bottom.  Ideally I would want the systainer pull out drawers to be two systainers deep (ca. 24") in order to maximize space.  I think I've seen posts on the forum with such a setup, but just wanted to double check what the best drawer slides to use for this would be (type and length), since it will have a lot of weight once it's fully extended.  Thanks.

Edward , I found that if you want to place two systainers 26" is minimum if you want to open the lids, this doesn't include nosings or overhanging  edging(ie: counterparts or faceframes). If it were me I would go with 28" full extension, weight wise 50 #(if you can find them that light, 75# the norm.) My Of 2200 with toys is 22# +/- , I think it's about the heaviess tool I have in a sys. Hope it helps. B

If you want reasonably priced full extension, ball bearing slides check these out:

I've used them many times for my shop and have always been happy with the quality for the price.

I just started using Woodworker's Hardware and find them to be a very good supplier.
