hi there
I am going to build a mitersaw station .
I have 2 12"saws  and a small one too

I think it is a shame to leave one saw on the ground and have a station for the other. I may as well have it up there ready to use
I am thinking of having a fine blade in one and a rougher in the other.
if im doing a lot of mitering I can set one left and one right [big grin] [big grin]

the problem I have is some kind of fence stop system.
I would like a few stops  and to have a scale that lines up to both saws.
I am thinking of having the saws 1000mm center to center so that the side with the other saw will be easier to align.

also I wont be able to put the stop where the saw is . this will be right in the area where most cuts would be. 600mm-1200mm

has anyone came across this problem or have a solution to it

thanks alan

Hi Alan
This is what I did. I have a third miter saw a Hitachi 8.5". I have all three mounted on Dewalt mounts. I made all three saws the same height and aligned the fences. I have two Dewalt stands the one in the picture and the smaller version. I bought two extra adjustable stock supports so that I can mount my homemade wings to the stand instead of the saw. This way I can use any saw or two saws on the big stand and not have to adjust the heights or alignment of the wings. The small set of wings doesn't have a fence yet, the longer wings have Kreg fences. I just finished installing incra trac through out my shop truck and I'm going to use it on both sets of wings.

If you make the wings 3/4" thick you can use Festool clamping elements, dogs, and Bessey or Kreg adjustable clamps with Precision plates. If you rout the incra trac flush or slightly below the surface so that the wood won't be damaged by sliding over the aluminum trac. You can use a ton of options for clamping or stops for repeative cuts. When you recess the trac the wing is flat and easy to store in the truck. I use 3/4" MDO for the wing surface and edge it with 1-1/2" Mahogany for the big wings and 3/4" MDO for the small set. I also drilled the big wings with three rows of 20 mm holes for clamping, jigs, and to lighten the wings. I bought a couple of MFT flag stops that I modified to work for repetitive stops on the wings as well as on the truck miter saw station, the Dewalt portable stands, and the drill press. I'll take pictures of my truck setup tomorrow and post them when I get home.
Cheers
Curt

Cut a piece of timber the distance between the two saws, in your case 1000mm, and the use it to add to the LHS stop when using the RHS saw and vice versa. This way only one scale and stop is required and it reads correctly for both saws.

thanks for the reply's.
I am hoping for a clever way so I can avoid using a 1000mm piece of wood if I can. it is another step that has to be done on every cut . you would have to watch 2 piece to make sure they are in contact
