some basic info
Compressor 7.5kw silenced piston

Ha! After reading where you spend free time I was NOT expecting such a serious space/shop....those are some big machines...great space(s) to work in! Thanks for the pics...always great to see other shops
There are no mistakes....just new designs.

Wow online421, that's a really impressive "garage" workshop!
Seems like quite a bit more than a hobby for you, eh? [big grin]
Any complaints from the neighbours with those big machines running? [blink] Or maybe you're in a rural location?
I'm in the process os setting up a much smaller 24m2 workshop in a quiet residential area and am concerned about possible noise complaints for sure.
Cheers!

Thank you! yes big machines are a dream to work with :) and I find the bigger they are, the lower pitch of noise they make.

Thanks Kwai. yes it is now more than a hobby... its more of a business and income for the family.

no complaints from neighbour, I am in residential area, my neighbour is not that far. I only turn on the machines between 5pm-7pm, after 7pm its clamping/cleaning/tidying up/planning/repairing....etc I try to quiet down my operation by using quieter machines where possible, thats why I changed from straight knife planer to spiral, my compressor makes the same amount of noise as a car makes makes when switched on.

I started in a 18 m2. then moved to 36m2, then finally, 54m2.

If you plan your work and dont do anything after 7pm and nothing on Sunday. you will not get complaints, unless you have neighbour from heck... .

Pretty nice wip. That Felder J/P looks like a workout up/down on the table.
Going to use a few ideas from what you have set up.

OMG, why do I feel like I'm staring into my life for the last 20 years?  It is scary to think there's someone out there like me.

Well, I am in a smaller shop - around 42m2 here in Melbourne, Australia.  It used to be my double car garage which over time got converted into a dedicated work space dedicated to woodworking machines. I too, work during the day and this shop is my escape at night or over weekends when the mood strikes.

I also started serious woodworking via combination machines - I progressively got bigger Felder machines - starting with BF6/26, then BF6/31 and finally BF7/41XL (the biggest combo Felder ever built).  Like you I became frustrated with combination, particularly when having to tear setups down to perform another task.

About ten years ago I took the plunge and decided to go with bigger and heavier single function machines. Wind forwards, I now have the following - Format4 shaper, Format4 Dual 51, Martin T60 panel saw, Meber 700 bandsaw, Alko twin bin extractor. Plus a few more.  I have literally run out of space and projects have to be planned in order to fit.  Its frustrating but I love my little space!

wow! I cant imagine how you fit all those machines into your shop! do you have enough air to breath?! those are massive 3 phase machines!
Also those machines are the best you can buy! I have always wanted to physically see a Martin but they are not available in NZ. , and I have also heard very good thing about Alko, unfortunately it is just not cost effective to ship them from Australia to NZ. might as well buy a new one from Germany and import direct to NZ.

I almost pulled the trigger on a Format4 shaper (Profil45) but couldnt justify the cost/investment and I have no room for another slider in my shop, and I probably need a briquette press more than a shaper... I cant decide...

If I buy anymore machines I will have to move to a rural area and start employing a few guys... dont really want to do that.
