Festool How To... / Re: How Do I Make an Angled Dado?

Make the wedge longer than your leg so it sticks out on both ends, and then you have a way to clamp the guide rail to the wedge.

You can make the wedge stick to the leg with double sided tape. Or clamp it.

I figured a wedge would be part of the solution.

I'm trying to figure out how to use a guide rail with the guide stop adapter unless there's a better way.

The combination of the angle and the narrow stock has me stumped.

Cut a long wedge on the table saw under the proper angle and use it to run the router on.

Just a rough sketch to show the idea.

Just ordered METABO: WPF 18 LTX 125 (613070860) 5" CORDLESS FLAT HEAD ANGLE GRINDER BARE TOOL...when you can't get into really tight corners.  Bought their 18V tapping drill and vac so already have batteries.

I need to make an angled dado in a table leg to accept a 3/8" panel.

It is set at a 75 degree angle to the face of the leg.

Please note it is actually a stop dado on both ends so I can't use a table saw.

I'm thinking I should cut it with a router but I'm not sure how.

I have a 1010, 1400, and 2200.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Joe

Mine sounds just like yours. But, like I said when I open the blade release mechanism the sound becomes very faint.
Sending it back is your decision. I have had mine for a year and a half and never had a problem.

TSO Precision Triangle kit. I bought it during the Labor Day sale, got it this week.  Really well made, haven’t had a chance to use it yet. Need to design a Systainer insert to hold all the bits and pieces.

So no need to send it back!?

I am not sure I have the photos readily available though I have used the 14mm connectors with the 14mm Domino tenons to build an indoor greenhouse with beams that were 115x115 mm if I remember correctly. Two 14mm tenons for strength, oriented perpedicular to the connector and then one connector per joint. The structure was all in all 6m by 3m and was supposed to be temporary, then dismounted and removed to a new location. It turned out to be very strong indeed. I need to look at the pictures as I seem to remember we were discussing adding a slight joint notch/recess to make it even stronger.

If there is any interest I can try to dig up the assembly/joint pictures.

Looks nice and nimble. It is too small to be a "silent" impact by the looks of it - I could very well be wrong and I hope I am.
Even if the Festool is a standard impact it is a very welcome addition to the line up - better late than never huh?

Too late for me since I sold off all my 18V Festool gear - but congratulations to all still on the hook. :)

After using the Hitachi/Hikoki silent impact for some time now I think it is the nicest drill I have ever used, pretty much perfect for me. I can't see myself ever getting a "noisy" impact for my type of work again though I do have the Hitachi triple hammer which is a very good allrounder should I need a bit more grunt.
