Calibrating saws to guide rails
« on: April 12, 2019, 12:36 AM »
I just received my new HKC 55 with the FSK guide rail.  Before I use it for the first time, I wanted to calibrate it with my old TS 75 for use on my existing guide rails.  I put the HKC on one of my old rails and it’s pretty far off the lip where my TS is cutting.  Before I calibrate it in, I wanted to check that I wouldn’t be better off bring the TS out and replacing all my splinter guards (which I’ve never done).  Thoughts on the best way to go and/or the best method to calibrate either saw?

Thanks,
Guy

I was just looking into something similar and see people saying that the ts75 only adjusts so far so you may have to meet somewhere in the middle.

helper: i used a festool "circular saw" to do something simple and it made it really hard

me: exactly, it makes simple cuts complicated and complicated cuts simple

Fresh strips isn't a bad idea.
I know the TS75 has less adjustment so you'll probably need to make the HKC work with the 75's offset.
The HKC is supposed to have the same kind of adjustment as the TS55.
There are plenty of threads/videos on that procedure.

I just did this with a Makita cordless track saw and TS75. I adjusted the Makita to cut the same line as the TS75, but, just this weekend I went to use a new 75" Festool rail for the first time and found the saw didn't want to move. The guide rib on the Festool rail was slightly wider than the Makita. So make sure you check this too.
