« on: April 02, 2013, 01:27 PM »
I am trying to find info if I can use Copier Scanning Set for 1400 router and some explanation- how to use it.
I am talking about this one - http://festoolusa.com/power-tool-accessories/routers/other-accessories/copier-scanning-set-486534
Thank you,
Ed.

It works just like a bearing on the end of a router bit except you use the bearing attached to the router via the arm instead of a bearing on the bit.

I don't use this set often, but it is really helpful when I need it.  Not a bad idea for a video

See this thread too: http://festoolownersgroup.com/festool-tools-accessories/1400-accessories/

There is a Paul Marcel video in there. It makes reference to the book "Festool Essentials - The Routers" which is pretty good (at least for a beginner like me), which has good photos of the copier scanning set (and other accessories for all the Festool routers).

Yeah, I saw that thread (thanks for the shout out!) I just mean one that shows how to use it specifically.  I don't remember doing that in that video...

AAA, I got it. I was thinking to use it for coping edge of wave-form band in the middle of the desk top. It would not help me.
Thank you guys !!

For something like that you could try using a bit with a bearing on the end to make a template using a piece of material somehow clamped to the side of the desk top.

Then apply that pattern to the piece you want to copy to...

Just a thought.

See also the Angle Arm attachment (which for some reason is filed under "Template Guides Imperial" on the Festool USA web site, which doesn't seem right to me), which can be used in conjunction with the scanner set.

This is sort of a random revival.  But just to add to the record, here are some videos another FOG user alerted me to when I asked about the set:

Discussion of the above videos in this forum:

Copier/scanner requires use of the the angle arm, BTW.

Copy Scanner set revisited
« Reply #7 on: January 01, 2017, 06:35 AM »
I'm looking at upgrading my OF 1010 with the accessories for edge triming and became interested in the Copy Scanner set. These thread just covers the most basic function of making rabbits and tongue and grooves. I think the Scanning ability for use of series production of parts to go into a latticework project could be interesting. But without any video documentation on this type of use I'd be hesitant to invest in the piece for 50 €..
