2 problems with the ts55
« on: November 01, 2014, 06:41 AM »
hi guys. When cutting plywood i sometimes have the riving knife binding so hard in the plywood that i have to put alot of force on it to get it out. This happens with bent plywood. Do you have any tips?

The other question is regarding accuracy of the ts55. 1 side (the waste side) of the cut is often not true, it has a curve to it. It happens with almost every cut. The other side is flawless. Is it time to change blade?

My impression based on what you wrote Is that your issues may be caused by your materials and internal pressures.  You could try cutting partially thru and then making a final cut and see if that helps, but long term that would be a time waster.

Make sure that your saw is adjusted properly to the rail and also make your cuts in a nice fluid motion and see if that helps also.

Put a wedge in the cut behind the saw.

The other question is regarding accuracy of the ts55. 1 side (the waste side) of the cut is often not true, it has a curve to it. It happens with almost every cut. The other side is flawless. Is it time to change blade?

Don't think this is caused by the blade. If one side of the cut is straight then the blade is straight. As Peter said, the curve is probably cuased by tension in your material. No use blaming the saw.

One other consideration is how well is your material supported? When I first got my TS before I had a proper cutting station I tried cutting ways that the material wasn't supported well enough and it would cause the saw to bind.

If you have full support and by that I mean 100% contact of the plywood to the supporting piece (A lot of guys use a 4x8 piece of 1" or 2" foam), unless your plywood is extremely warped, I think you would see better results.
