Attachments for Festool dust extractors
« on: February 09, 2019, 08:22 PM »
New Festool owner here.  Recently purchased a CT36E and some sanders.  Looking for attachments for the vac.  A couple questions...

Not sure which hose I have how do tell?  Should I be looking for 35mm attachments?

Bought three stainless tubes as well as the curved tool off ebay.  I'm assuming they're all Festool but only the curved tube is marked Festool.  I think they're 35mm but not sure.  Seem to measure slightly less than 35mm OD on the tool end and just about 35mm ID on the Vac end.  They seem to fit the hose that came with vac.

I bought the Festool accessory pack with three plastic attachments.  I'm looking to add a commercial quality floor sweep and  considering a "turbo" attachment for carpets etc.  The Festool aluminum floor sweep looks to be $170 and Turbo carpet attachment is about $150.  Are their similar generic brands that are more reasonably priced?  This would be for general clean-up in customer homes for routine Home Improvement repairs, drywall, trim carpentry, etc.

Thanks for your help!

I attempted to buy a generic turbo end nozzle (Wessel Werk TK248) but sadly the connection didn't fit any Festool hose I own. I did purchase the Festool workshop Cleaning kit while it was on clearance about a year ago, it's a very expensive kit but the wide floor attahment is phenomenal on hard floors. I believe Festool contracts with Wessel Werk for their floor sweeps, a very good German brand. And of course you know the ends will fit if it's from Festool.

For cleaning delicate areas I wouldn't recommend the aforementioned workshop Cleaning kit as the hardware is all metal, including the floor sweeps. Best to use something plastic in this case, like the Festool 203430 cleaning kit. That floor sweeps is also nice, though not as wide as the workshop kit, but since it's plastic you won't have to worry about marring walls or floors.

Thanks I was looking to order the Industrial kit when I placed order but held off due to finances.  I sourced the three stainless tubes as well as a stainless curved tube (I think the Industrial kit comes with a plastic curved tube?).  Is the hose that comes with Industrial kit larger than the hose that comes with the vac?  I really didn't need an extra hose at the moment.  I do want to buy that floor sweep though.  Will it work (effectively) with the standard hose?  Not so worried about metal attachments causing damage I don't have to be the bull in the china shop when it matters, lol.  I've had so many shop vacs over the years and so sick of the cheap attachments.  Just got the Festool yesterday and haven't had a chance to use it yet but am very happy so far.  Don't mind spending a little extra for premium products but $170 for a floor sweep seems pretty excessive.  Am I missing something?  LOL...

So I am no expert here but I do have a 2018 Festool catalog and a CT 36. My CT36 came with the standard 27mm hose. It has a 36mm od and fits the 36mm vac accessories in all of the cleaning sets except for the Industrial set. It appears that those accessories are 50mm and that set comes with the larger diameter 50mm hose. The catalog states “Oversized industrial set comes complete with large diameter tubes and hose for tackling heavier cleanup tasks or larger debris”.

Yeah, the tools seem awesome catalog descriptions something else...  What confused me is I thought it came with a 27 mm hose too but it fits 35 mm tubes.  So the 27mm is the ID measurement at attachment point for tools?  The 35mm must be OD measurement.  Sorry, new to this...

i use the 27mm hose showed inside the attachments, and 35mm goes on the outside. they both work well; one has more volume, the other more flow

The Festool hose size diameters are the ID.  D27 = 27mm ID,   D36 = 36mm ID, D50 = 50mm ID.

The vac accessories (barring the ones for the D50) are designed to work with both D27 and D36 hoses.  The hose either fits inside or outside the accessory.

The new tapered D27/32 hose is D27 on the tool end and also fits.

USA regular / standard / normal vac accessories will not fit.
