Why did you put a car in the middle of your woodshop?   [scratch chin]

But's it a garage in California.   Most folks here never put their car in the garage :-)

Yes, he is great. He recommended a book to read that was very enjoyable. I have been looking at the two squares they offer. I have been impressed with the products of theirs that I have. I am leaning towards the MTR-18 Precision System Triangle Set.

Matt try reducing the size of the photos. I had the very same issues when I tried to post. Now when I send the photos from my iPhone to my MB Pro I send them as "large". That reduces the original size of 4000 x 3000 images to approximately 2000 x 1500. That made all the difference in the world. They'll also tend not to rotate.

With some of my recents posts I've included up to 12 images at a time. A 2000 x 1500 image is still a 28" x 21" photograph.  [eek]

Really nice job on the cabinet Matt.  [thumbs up]

@jobsworth they are tricky. A lot of curves and natural joinery. Longer than expected :)

Building the drawer out of Cherry to match the bottom sliding doors - but I'll do the drawer face in Walnut.

Did you build it with this location in mind? Is so I was wondering about the angle not mirroring the step. I think it turned out beautifully. I am simply always curious about design consideration. The mental process I find fascinating. Good work.

Tallgrass I was wondering the same thing. I put it down to design inexperience. While the build was OK there are several elements in sizing and fit that should have been addressed early on. That will hopefully come with time and if the OP is receptive to a critique of the work. There are too many on the current forums that they say great work as a matter of course with little in the way to help improve future projects.

i am not suggesting design inexperience. I am curious as to why. Frequently the decisions that govern a design are not known by the observer. This is why I am interested in the design process that people go through. As an insight into the mind. I am an engineer and design considerations that are not expected or self evident  can have a dramatic impact on the design.  So in this case considering the general thoughtfulness of the builder and his attention to detail, I am curious. I have a friend who built a beautiful chest of drawers. The drawer pulls and details were a mystery to me ,because of  their free form nature. When I asked him why , he said he drew his inspiration from carbide structures in various alloys. As soon as he said this, it made perfect sense and was impressive. you could see the dendritic structure going through the chest of drawers. What seemed to be random was not.

@kcufstoidi thanks for the feedback man!  We can always get better and improve ourselves every day, that’s why we are all here on this forum after all :) and we learn a ton from each other!

@tallgrass thanks so much for all your kind words - I really in general agree, better to ask the question to see what they had in mind.

In this particular case and I think I mentioned a few posts ago - the idea is to build an ancillary piece to this one that holds umbrellas, and that would go in the spot between the stairs and the angled portion. You don’t need a lot of surface area - just height. And putting it behind the piece keeps it out of the way. I’ll post pics when I build it.

As for this piece - almost done! Drawer is in and drawer face is almost done.
