I ordered my C341 last month but I have to wait until April 2019 to receive. I went for the silent power, mobility kit, digital read out, 200mm sliding table, table extensions. I am considering have a tech come out to the house and setup and calibrate the machine for an extra fee. Has anyone used that service?

I ordered an etching press for my wife last Christmas. It is scheduled to be delivered this coming January.

@smbobby It would be in your best interest to join the Yahoo Felder Owners Group. It's a private group, requiring a brief account setup process. The members there will quickly and effectively guide you on how to make the best decision regarding the commissioning process. This question is answered every few weeks.

Nice saw BTW...

Yes-Felder sent someone from Austria together with a Frenchman to me in Northern France for the day. It was well worth it.

Got my A3-41 two days ago.  I work in a fairly cramped garage and need longitudinal movement, so the Hammer mobility kit was out for me as well.  Going to have a base welded up and run four Great Lakes Casters, although that will probably be after the new year.  I had my garage wired up a separate panel with four 220 outlets on four different circuits a few years back, so power won't be a problem, though space is.  This is a pretty big step up for me.  Very excited.

Getting it into the garage wasn't so bad. I don't have the space for a pallet jack, but I do have a Johnson bar that makes moving heavy things reasonably easy.  Had my little helper work the Johnson bar while I shoved a couple of furniture dollies under the crate.  Slid in like butter.

I really enjoy my Hammer A3 41, had it for 8 mos now.  I second the Oneida vacs, works great for my setup.  Here’s a picture of the ramps I built to get it off the pallet.  Quite the experience in itself!  I also made a simple lift table to catch wood coming out the planer.  Congrats on the purchase!

Got any plans for that lifting table cart you built in that second pic? That looks useful.

I watched a YouTube video of some guy, way sharper than myself.  I was able to reproduce something close.  I will try to find the link to share.

Congrats on the new JP - I have have my Hammer for going on  10 years now and it is running just as well as when I bought it - the newer table and new head is certainly an upgrade.

For casters, just use Zambus casters - you can widen the holes on each corner slightly to accommodate the 10mm stud on the casters. I have had those on mine since day one with no issues. No real need to weld a base of anything. And they are self-leveling. Similar to the Great Lakes brand.

@mattbyington just ordered one as well with the year end clearance sale going on. Selling off my dw735 and pm60 with shelix on both to pay for most of it. I’m excited about the space savings.

Well team, got the new dust collector setup this morning finally (had been sitting in the garage for 2 weeks, holiday time w/ family et cetera).

The clear hose from Rockler was delayed (backordered) and should come in a week or so. But I got it hooked up.

Having a beer to work up the courage to cut a 4" hole in the wall downstairs :) to use Rockler's through-wall dust port.

I decided to mount this in the closet area of the garage - and run hose through the wall right to the machine.

I'll post some more pics sometime that make it more clear.

Matt

According to Felder, one week until the unit arrives on the boat - then they ship it to me.

It's so close I can almost taste it.

Got the dust collection all ready to go for it and installed a new sub-panel myself that powers the Festool system and will power the jointer.

Congratulations!

I got a MiniMax FS30c last year.  Very similar machines.

Be careful getting that beast off the pallet.  It's very top heavy.

I built a ramp off one end and my brother & I slid it off.  Slid is probably an exaggeration.  Muscled it off is more accurate.

Others have used engine hoists and other lifting devices.

I can highly recommend the Portamate Super Duty Adjustable Mobile Base PM-3500.

Enjoy!

My A341 looks just like your A331, still in the crate. I hope you get yours setup and actually use it. I know this is extremely pathetic, but I’ve had mine for 3 years and it’s still on its crate and in one of my storage rooms. I had every intention of using it but it just hasn’t happened. It’s the same thing with my ICS SawStop and bandsaw.

Anyway, your shop is looking awesome!

Lol @Runhard , you’re not alone!  You might have me beat by a little, but I’m in the same boat.  Bandsaw, table saw and planer are all boxed up in the garage waiting for me to sort out layout, install a sub panel and 4 circuits and figure out my dust collection.  I’ve got to pay for some foundation work in the basement first, then work on the shop.

I've had my A331 for a coulple of years now and love it.  It just works well.

Here's something you should know about.  Its something to keep in mind when you're setting yours up.

Scroll down to Episode 10 - Combination Machines, Dust Collection and More!
Fast forward to the 17:00 minute mark where he talks about setting up the jointer's outfeed table.

@Runhard  @RKA  Lol... that makes 3, my A326 was a 3/16 delivery.
But I managed a 16" block of Walnut and about a minutes worth
gawking how quiet & smooth it was. Turned it off and put it off to the side.
At least the N4400/K3 gets some use, not much. Dont have time, but
they'll be there when I will need them someday.

Does felder hire temporary crate builders? My crate looked
no wheres near that and was rickety. I had those little white stickers
all over the crate & plastic wrap also as well as the machine.

If Matt doesnt show up for work we might know why.

Btw, @mattbyington Nice shop! too nice  [huh]

Seems to be a theme. Took 15 months to move my Felder gear into the basement shop. I'm trying to find the time to wire it all up and get the dust collector setup.

@Picktool I think it’s just crated at the Felder US warehouse by whomever is responsible for shipping these out.  When I picked mine up at the Delaware warehouse it was bolted to the narrow pallet and wrapped in plastic sheeting, probably exactly how it made it’s trip across the pond.  That’s how I took possession of it, but they had a few standard pallets, chop saw, wood stock, impact drivers, screws, etc. to prep these units for freight shipping when necessary.

SCMI (Minimax) completely wrapped my bandsaw in 3/4” pine on all 6 sides leaving the factory in Italy.

Nice work. Glad to see you lifted it properly. Seems obvious that you shouldn’t lift it by the tables, yet I see it time and time again. Must be excited to send some wood through!

Thanks @egmiii !

It says it straight in the manual - no lifting by tables!

Had to get creative but it worked like a charm.

I just used the 2x4s that came with the pallet to make that little sled :)

I am super excited! I need to work out power though. And waiting on Amazing for a 5" to 4" coupler thingy.

So close!

If possible, try to run 120mm or 5” hose from the machine to your dust collector. 4” is quite small and won’t provide enough airflow to grab all the chips. Lots of static pressure. You can choke down to 4” at the dust collector if required. I’m currently in the process of building out my dust collection. Going from the Felder 120mm hose to 6” PVC sucked. I eventually broke down and had a local fabrication shop make custom transitions. Came out great, but really slowed the project down.

Nice work getting it off the pallet.  My solution to get the A3 off the pallet was much more 3 stooges than your method.

My first dust collection setup for the A3 was an old Jet DC-650 with a 4 inch hose.  It did a poor job.  Just a few weeks ago I upgraded to an Oneida Mini Dust Gorilla.  I found a 5” by 18 foot clear plastic hose for it and though the hose is longer than I want, the chip collection is still good.

Have fun getting to know your machine.  I’m very pleased with mine—especially how quiet it is compared to the banshee (a Dewalt 735) it replaced.
