1010 router

I have a nearly new of1010 had it a while now it was a new replacement for the first one I had under warranty but thats another story. Anyway lately I have been using it out on site more and have noticed that the plunge locking knob has to be really tightened to stay locked. I was routing some stuff the other day and noticed that the depth had changed even though the knob was tight. It only stays locked if you tighten the knob much tighter than any router Ive had before which doesnt seem right, Also when locked off the knob has a certain amount of wobble in it.

Can anyone who owns a 1010 comment on the above cheers.

Spookyly enough, I have noticed that to with my 1010 but it only seems to happen if I using it to plough a groove and as I go along the groove gets shallower!

I was going to email Festool UK to see if there is an easy resolution.

I suggest you tighten the screw holding the plunge locking knob, maybe 1/4 turn? It is a similar setup to the levers on the domino and I remember an identical issue with that tool, and the solution was to tighten the screws a touch.

You may want to unscrew it a little first, position the plunge lever where you want it, and then tighten the screw.

I am 99% sure this will work, the 1% has something to do with the fact that I don't have a 1010!!!!

I dont think theres any screws involved its just the large black plunge lock knob, its like its not clamping the shafts properly I will take a look but I think you may have it wrong Richard.

Apologies, I thought you were referring to the lever on the depth stop column. As for the round grip, can't help you there, sorry!

I was using it today and had a look the knob comes apart and its just a loose bolt inside thats why it wobbles. The end of the bolt just clamps the plunge shaft
