When using 2 Parallel Edge Guides on narrow work can the router be adjusted to center as well as offset?

Thanks for any help!

My first thought was why not use the edging plate for stability, and one less thing to buy? (Will the edging plate offset far enough for the material thickness?) Then again I had not thought about increasing the fence height of the edge guide.

As noted below draw a line and use the router centering marks to offset or center as desired.

"Use rods for the OF 1400 and OF 2200 routers along with two parallel edge guides to create an alternative to the template routing aid (as featured above). Since our routers feature center line marks on the router base, simply scribe a center line on the material and align the center line mark for perfect results. Need additional fence height for more stability? Well, you can replace the fence surfaces on the parallel edge guide with taller material very easily for additional support with the removable screws."

[member=4105]tjbnwi[/member] Just curious what is gained by going horizontal here?  I can see how it might be easier to plunge the router, since one hand is enough to stabilize the router from the top while the other is being used to plunge, whereas in the vertical orientation you would have to be more sensitive about unequal distribution of pressure from a single hand on one side while making the plunge.

That's the bottom of a door. Routing in for an RCT lower seal receiver.

Surprised no mentioned there are not 2-1400 edge guides in the photo.

Didn't catch it at first, but yeah the bottom one is not an edge guide. What piece is it.

On similar note can one replace the of1010 edge guide plastic with wood to make it wider ?

If you look a the backside you will see the plastic can be removed. Then you can screw plastic or wood in it's place. Use a thicker material and counter sink the screws.

I looked carefully at my router today and figured out by making a spacer for the edging plate parts, preferably out of aluminum but hardwood should work. I can do the same thing without purchasing a second edge guide nor any other parts. The spacer would go between the two parts shown below, allowing it to adjust out further.
