1400EQ router in CMS table operation question

I have a new 1400 and new CMS table. My question is about locking the 1400 in the "ON" position while in position under the table. My lock button has very little movement to it. It pushes in a tiny bit...enough to lock it most of the time. It will lock on, but it will sometimes click itself right back to off once I hit the off button on the CMS table.

I haven't run a board through either of them yet, so I am not sure what normal is supposed to be like. I just feel like the lock button on the router should move more and it should not be able to click off as easy as it does. It feels like I am locking it on and then holding my breath that it will stay. Once its running (no bit in it and no load on it) it seems to stay on just fine.

Sound normal?

If it runs, it should still run with load. Also, just to make sure (no offense), you are pulling the trigger and then using the lock button right?

I assume you are but it should be fine. My button moves in at about 1-3 mm on my 1400. Never had it turn off in my CMS.

Thanks

Yeah, I have been locking it properly (the way you described).

Mine seems to move the same 1-3mm that yours does. Ok, I will assume things are working normally. I guess I was just assuming that the lock button would depress much further.

I was having problems with it again while testing it out earlier today and decided to call Festool about it. They said it needs to be "lock button pressed first and then trigger". It seems to be holding much better now. I could have sworn I tried that, but maybe not.

Just figured I would update this thread incase it ever comes up again.

I just went down to my shop and tried it both ways and it feels no different. But glad you updated this thread in case others have a similar issue.

Enjoy it!

back again with an update.

I attempted to do a bunch of routing today with my 1400 in my CMS table and had constant problems with the trigger lock. It would shut off midway through a cut, click off before I had a chance to turn it on, or sometimes it would take 4 or 5 attempts to get it to hold at all. I was about to wrap a bunch of tape around it to lock it on but then thought better of that idea.

Unless anyone knows of a fix I can experiment with, I guess it needs to get serviced.

Sorry you are still having issues. I would definitely send it in for service as that sound less like a nuisance and more like an issue.
