looking for a new 15g nailer. would like something a little nicer- i just picked up a couple grex- pin and brad nailer. just looking for suggestions and opinions. thanks

I have the Hitachi,  I wanted it because of the integrated air blower. Which I use a lot. Itis a good gun and very reasonable in price.
It is loud though, I wear ear plugs anyway so that doesn't bother me. The new bostich looks really nice too.
All trim guns should have the dust blower in my opinion..

I was just looking at some 15ga finish nailers , think I'm going to get the bostitch angle nailer 15ga from Home depot . It has the blower and a few other nice features .

One other feature all trim guns should come with is a good belt hook. I think that bostich had one,.

Are you sure you need 15 ga.?  I really hate the big holes they leave and if the 18 ga. are long enough for what you are fastening can't you use an 18?  I really like the power and reliability of the Grex "green buddy" 18 ga. nailer.  If you are using glue on joints, etc. the 18 ga. should be more than enough for most trim out's.  I have a 15 ga. Bostich nailer that works really well, it's just that since I got the green buddy it doesn't get used much.

Chris...

i was thinkin the grex it just looks kinda big. i dont have a dealer anywhere close so i can check it out. the grex pinners and brad had a ton of  great reviews and happy customers so i went with those (and they are green). not a lot on any 15 gauge nailers. btw - i earn a living with my tools.  i have a 15g and use it enough- it does leave a large hole but it does get used. i am new to festools and love them and was upgrading all my tools to nicer stuff. i have a ridgid now and happy with it no problems.

I have an earlier (nice quality) Senco 15ga gun that I hardly ever use.  Between the 16ga finish and 18ga brad and 23ga pinner, there's not much I need a 15 for.  I keep it around for exterior trim jobs, but don't do much of that kind of stuff.

totally agree, I have hitachi 15ga, but it never leaves the truck. I rarely find a need for such a large finish nail. I use it sometimes for toe nailing 2x blocking when framing. I got tired of framing gun splitting out blocking (toe nailed) so switched to 15ga.but that's usually the only time I use it.

I have always used bostitch guns with great results and just recently retired my older model Bostitch 15ga FN style nail for two of their new DA style nail 15ga guns  model DA1564K

There are some amazon reviews saying people had air leakage out of the nose right off the bat but i talked to a Bostitch rep and he assured me they fixed the problem (was a small casting burr which would cut an o-ring on first fire) both of mine have had no problems

like the Hitachi it has a built in air blow gun which i find to be a welcome feature and it also had a little led light you operate with a little button switch when you find yourself trimming out a closet or another dark area

If your not familiar, FN nails i believe were always specific to bostitch and have a T profile (the head is not round) and not all tool stores (mine) carry them..  the DA style head is found on most or all other 15ga guns (and now the Bostitch DA1564K) and is shaped like a D therefore i figure it might help draw the two pieces together tighter when nailing  (depot/lowes near me stock both types of nails)

hope this helps

I use a Senco 15g professionally for the last 3 years......no complaints and the gun can shoot 2 1/2" nails which is great for hanging doors and sucking in base on bad walls.

Its great to have some pneumatic guns but I'm switching over to cordless.  Far more convenient and its great to not set a compressor, hoses, and find power.

My opinion: buy a decent pneumatic as cheap as possible without loosing quality(Maybe Used).  Then get the best cordless you can.

The Senco is cordless right? How heavy is it? I used a DeWalt DC628K for several years, but at 8.8 pounds it just became too irritating to use. I ended up selling it.

My Senco 15g isnt cordless, but some of my other guns are cordless which I really enjoy using.

I have been considering the Senco Fusion(cordless) but havent jumped yet.  Although I have not heard any bad reviews from those I know.

If you are thinking Grex for a 15ga nailer - DON"T !!!!!!!!!

Grex has a wonderful 23ga pinner, the P635, etc. that came out 3-4 years ago. All their other guns were lousy.

Last year they finally got the same company that makes the P635, etc. pinners to make their 18ga bradder, called the 1850GB. I haven't tried one but it is reported to be as good as the 23ga. Their other stuff is still crap!

Grex does not manufacture anything. They buy some stuff made in Taiwan and China and some is excellent and some is junk. You need to dig deeper than the name.

Hitachi has a very reliable gun!

Senco's are my favorite.  Oilles for stain grade and precision depth adjustment.

XP41  is the current gun.

I almost picked up the grex 15ga after getting the green buddy and pin nailer, the sales man told me not to. He said there is better guns out there he really like the hitachi. Am I the only one that hangs interior doors with a 15 ga? I also have used it with exterior trim. BTW I'am starting to hang doors with screws behind the door stops. Has anyone had issues with this?

I have the Hitachi cordless that I got for 149 USD from Amazon. Compared to my Greg 635 and green buddy it is larger but is also expected.
Compared to my cordless paslode 3 ION is lighter and good for framing ceilings.

Cheers
Luis

I use 15 ga on doors too, and I put a screw in by each hinge and by the door handle.  Behind the door stop.
I do want a 16ga 2 1/2" nailer for casing and base, the smaller nail holes would be nice over the 15ga.
My 16ga is only up to 2" nails.
