Out of curiosity and assuming supply side issues are resolved, what is on your 2021 tool wish list this year? I am planning on the following this year:

1.) FESTOOL ROUTER TABLE SET, CMS-GE
2.) Vecturo OS 400 (via Recon) *really wish they still offered the corded version
3.) Shaper Origin
4.) Hammer A3-31 Jointer-Planer

Definitely the shaper origin. I am curious about your choice with the router table. People either seem to love or not love the CMS. Would you mind sharing what you like about the CMS?

Ordered an 8” HH Powermatic jointer and 20” HH Powermatic Planer. Ordered 2/1 from Woodcraft and was told they would be in 3/1 & 4/19 and already moved out to 4/26 & 5/26.

I hope the supply chains get back closer to normal this year for everyone

My plans for this year are:

- Festool MW 1000 (the complete version, w/ the worksurface)
- Mafell P1cc jigsaw (also set of tracks which can be carried protected by the worksurface)
- Mafell A 18M bl cordless drill driver
- Bridge City Tool Workd DJ-3 drilling jig (once it's available:https://blog.bridgecitytools.com/20...s-coming-from-bridge-city-tool-works-in-2021/ )

and as many Systainers are needed to fill out the stack --- I'll fill them w/ hand tools and maybe get the Lee Valley drilling and clamping Systainers.

Figure that should let me build pretty much anything, esp. paired w/ my CNC.

Once I get a shop my plans are for a bandsaw, Bridge City Tool Works Jointmaker Pro, and a shooting plane and shooting board.

In general, I will only have one "big tool" acquisition in 2021, and that's not assured because of outside factors. We're getting ready for a move to our "downsize" property and as such I will need to construct a new shop building once we are settled and our current property is sold. That process will take time because of the zoning dance and normal construction time frames once the money is available. Because I'm going to have to set up shop temporarily in an oversize 2 car garage until I can build, I will not be able to accomodate my existing  SCM/Minimax S315WS sliding table saw and since I have no desire to pay to store it for an indeterminate time period, I've sold it to another woodworker. So the "large tool" purchase might involve a replacement slider in 2021 or it may not happen until early next year. I don't have total control over that timeframe.

Of course, that means my Festool stable will be getting even more use for awhile. :)

That is cool that a new drill jig is coming out. I have a DJ2 and it is great and very accurate.

I just listed No. 1 in classifieds. :)

But to answer your question, I'm thinking a CAD machine.

Hopefully drag your feet until lumber prices drop?

I’m not sure this counts as a “large tool”, but I’m eyeballing a MFT/3 table. Found myself in a few situations last year where a quick-setup work table would have been nice.

This is probably the year I get a Kapex, even though getting one will require a whole new miter stand/station. I'm still interested in a smaller bladed SCMS (that wouldn't require a new stand,) but the KS60 doesn't seem destined for this side of the pond.

I've built a new workshop (attached to my retirement home) and have already purchased a Harvey Industries table saw and dust processor. My next (and last?) big iron purchase would be a Hammer A3-31 Jointer-Planer. I'm still wrestling with making the decision as it would be the most expensive piece of equipment I've ever purchased. It would replace a portable DeWalt planer and 6" Rigid joiner, so definitely an improvement. But there's also the issue of a nine month lead time.

Update (6 November 2021): Well I went ahead and ordered the Hammer Planer-Thicknesser A3-31 back in March 2021 with a delivery date in September 2021. The Felder Group contacted me in September to notify me that the delivery date may be as late as December 2021, then updated the information that the equipment was on board a ship and due in port in November 2021. As of today no further information... Hope it's not rusting away... [crying]

Life is good, the A3-31 arrived just before Christmas and is now set up and running in my workshop. My old planer and joiner went to a good home at a friends workshop. First thoughts are the A3-31 is everything as advertised. My only additional purchase is the short outfeed extension that will arrive in mid-January 2022.

That looks like a great machine, especially for the added width of the jointer. But how often will you be transitioning from jointer to planer.

For me it’s a 400mm Laguna drum sander and a Nova Viking. But I think they might be 2022 plans looking at the budget....

I have a FS41, which is not the same machine; but is also a combo J/P.  I don't find the switch to be that onerous.  I usually plan my work to face/edge joint, then thickness, and then finally come back to edge jointing.  The switch only takes a couple minutes, the longest part on the SCM machine is that you need to manually crank the planer bed up or down to 7" to avoid the jointer beds from hitting it.  It is also the most expensive machine I've ever purchased, and I was fairly nervous about it; but now am quite happy with it.  It does take more space than the 6" RIDGID jointer and Dewalt 13" planer that I previously had, but can handle much bigger material.  Combining the machines is what made it work though.

When I start thinking about the cost of the machines, I remind myself that the square footage of my shop [unfinished basement in NY suburbs] is much more costly than any of the machines that are in it.

The Hammer A3-31 arrived just before Christmas and is now set up and running. It meets and exceeds my expectations. Quiet, powerful, smooth cuts, and easy to use. Switching between joining and planing is simple. I've connected the A3-31 to my Harvey G-700 dust processor and get good dust collection (about 98% efficiency).

A Rotex 150, but not in Sys3

Maybe the D50 cleaning set, or just a D50 AS hose, since I think I already own most of the D50 set... somewhere.

EDIT: Oh, this was about 2021.

Well, assuming we are now talking about 2022.... and with just a touch of wishful thinking on my part:

Mafell Erika
Bridge City Jointmaker Pro
ETSC-125 (with the edge sanding gizmo)
Domino

It can only be one of those this year, or just possibly some combination of a couple of the less costly items...

My big tool for 2021 was a Felder FB510 bandsaw. Arrived Nov 17 and it is awesome!

I’m currently waiting for delivery of a Grizzly 16” jointer and 15” open end wide belt sander.

I can’t believe the wife let me pull the trigger
