Well Festool went and did it.  That dang 10% sale has me planning to spend some money.  I've been wanting to get a longer rail for my TS55 to be able to cut the full length of a 8' ply sheet.  Secondly, I've had my eye on the LR32 system.  Should I get that I considered getting the rail with the holes already in it but i have two questions,

First, is the 2424mm rail long enough to do a full 8' ply with the TS55, and second If I did get this length rail would it be too big to effectively use on anything smaller than 8' lengths with the LR32.  I can image trying to stablize this beast  of a rail while cutting pin holes in a small  24" long piece.  Thoughts?

95 inches won't be long enough to cut 8 foot (96 inch) ply.  You need extra length at the beginning and end to line up the saw.

No problem.  A little known Google feature is that it'll do unit conversion for you.  Just search something like: convert 2424mm to inches.

You would need the 2.7m rail as a minimum but i would recommend the 3m.  Don't fancy using it for the LR32 though.

I have the 3000 for sheet goods and it works fine.  I also have the LR32 system and have two of the shorter rails.  I know I've read that you shouldn't have two of the same length rail but in this scenario I think it works.  The shorter LR32 rail is perfect for shorter cuts and it works for most cab jobs when drilling the holes.  If I need something longer I just connect the two rails together.  The vast majority of cabinet jobs will not require shelf pin holes from top to bottom of the cabinet so the longer LR32 rail serves a very minimal purpose - it's too short to cut full length sheet goods and it's overkill for drilling the pin holes.

I've got the 42" and 55" LR32 rails, when joined you get over 98". For all practical purposes, you can do a full sheet if the need arises.

I have an 5x8 out feed table for my uses; I took a guide rail "hinge" and end cleat, one table end piece, cut into two pieces, screwed them to the ends of the work/out feed table and use the 55 or 75 saw for a joiner, Two 55" guide rails for longer stock. When not in use, I remove one section, raise the first rail to its vertical position and the work/outfeed table is ready for use. This is a total Festool shop. Baggins

You will also want the extra length, of the 3000mm, if you plan on using the parallel guides. As they need to span your material .
