Anyone care to guess how long they think it might last.

– Blower from kids bouncy house type of inflatable toy – $20.00 at Goodwill

- leaf blower Baig – $2.99 at Goodwill

- Toilet flange for connecting dryer vent to the blower – $0.00  It's been kicking around in my garage and was charged out in another job.

- Flexible Dryer vent pipe - $0.00 Again laying around unused.

-  A few nuts bolts screws and tape.

Not sure what the CFM is but it definitely sucks sawdust from the tablesaw.

I know - redneck but hey what you going to do when you got diapers to buy.

Dude, that's ingenious.  My wife would say Redneck, until she realized how much money something like that would save.

Pretty sure that's what our grandparents would have done.  Waste not want not, necessity the mother of invention...these aphorisms exist for a reason.

Keep it up.

Jon

It's not redneck until there's duct tape involved (I only see a foil tape).  It has to run a long time for the kids' toy so I don't see why it wouldn't work well for you here. Clever!

I agree - not quite Redneck - needs Duct Tape, some type of hunting weapon and shine involved to be true Redneck...

Great plan and execution thereof!!!

Why thank you!  Although I'm not sheepish at showing my "make use of" personality, I must say I was a little apprehensive about posting it.  I have my few festool tools but for the most part I have a pretty poor example of a shop.  Moved to Arizona 4 1/2 a half years ago and finally finding a bit of time and money to try and put a shop together again.  I have a ct26 but don't always want to take it out of the trailer or have to hook and unhook when doing multiple things.  I was thinking of just getting a cheap harbor freight but with this I am hoping I can hold off and buy a really good unit when money allows...we'll see? The Laguna that Paul reviewed looks nice but I will be saving for awhile to get that one.

The leaf blower bag happen to fit perfectly over the factory flange outlet.  The bag has a zipper for emptying.

The toilet flange fits the dryer vent pipe perfectly and probably didn't need the foil tape.

A couple precautions I did take:

I built a little outside closet for it so it is self-contained in case it decides to explode if a good chunk of wood get sucked up and destroys the impeller/housing.  Also quieter because of it.

Also because it is on the exterior of the garage, I'm less concerned about the filtering of the bag because I'm sure it's not at a low micron level.

On a similar kinda note, I found a perfectly good dyson upright hepa filter vac for $7.99 at Goodwill that I often use on jobs that don't warrant bringing the festool vac along.

And Cochese, you are correct,  that would also help prolong the impeller because it us not nearly as heavy duty as the cheapest real dust collectors out there.

Awesome! This reminds me of the "Houston, we have a problem" solution in Apollo 13. Nice work!
