I am new to the FT CT dust extractors. I bought a CT 26 and recently bought a tradesman access it to get some clean up access. And the 36 mm hose.

The tool end of the hose seems extremely tight - I can barely get it on the Kapex fitting and/or the metal tunes that came with the kit.

Anyone else had this problem? Is it normal and does it loosen with time?
Would some silicone spray or talc help or just make it worse.

Any advice appreciated

Thx
Steve

be one with the hose and take charge! It does get easier - or is it that you get more aggressive with it.

Yes they are very tight when new, almost to the point that I thought it was defective.  With some use it becomes a bit more flexible and also you get used to the amount of pressure / twisting needed to fit the hose onto various tools.

Hi Steve,

    Welcome to the forum!  [smile]

What they said. And don't use the silicone. That will probably just make a gummy mess at the connection.

I had a dreadful time with the (Bosch) festool-look-alike tool end going onto the oval router spigot. Many new words invented. The first time I had to soak it in boiling water to get it to go on.

After "kneading" the tool end under my foot to try and soften it up, and a month or so of occasional use it now performs beautifully and the skin on my knuckles has grown back.
