3M Abrasive Plastic Brush

Has anyone used one of these abrasive brushes and if so what did you think of it. TIA.

[member=58818]Mini Me[/member] Not a big fan of those. for what I am trying to do with them I feel they get torn up faster and aren't as effective as a wire wheel or wire cup in an angle grinder.

If the surface is mostly smoother and flat I much prefer using 3M Schotchbrite Rolocs in that 50mm form factor. They are a non-woven abrasive and come in different grit flavors. I use mostly coarse and medium (brown and maroon) in a Milwaukee M12 right angle die grinder.

There are knock offs available but the 3M ones seem to have better quality control and last longer.

Weiler makes some nice wire wheels and cups. I have bettr luck with them as well. They also make smaller that go on a die grinder.

You will want to wear a full face shield if using a wire product.

Ya I'm with Ron on this one...I use it on a RA grinder to remove old gasket material without damaging the surface, especially nice for aluminum casting surfaces. It's kind of like using a big eraser, it's easy on the metal surface but wears away pretty fast.

As much as I hate using wire wheels, (ouch they hurt), they are still my most used abrasive accessory to clean up surfaces without damaging the surface. Here's a selection of Weiler & Pferd wire wheels with a couple of 3M Schotchbrite Rolocs tucked in next to them. While that solitary, lonely 3M bristle brush patiently waits its turn to remove gasket material. Also notice that all of the outer bristles have broken off, it is after all just plastic with some abrasive material mixed in.
