Does anyone know the part number for the 50 mm hose (and hose ends) that come with the Boom Arm.  I cannot find it in Festool's or spare part websites.

JGA.

Jesus,

I am not certain, but it may be Item 452888, Hose D50x2.5m AS, priced at US$104.50 as of April 1, 2008.

Here's the URL 50 mm AS Hose from McFeeley's from last year.  It still works on my PC.

Maybe super Sleuth Forrest Anderson will respond with better up-to-date information for you.

Edit Feb. 3:  The hose that came with my Boom Arm is a little more about 5 ft long, measured from the end of one coupling to the end of the other coupling.  So it appears to NOT be the same as Item 452888 which is longer.

I heard that!  :D

The boom arm is actually listed in the USA and UK parts catalogues, but not in the place you'd probably expect.

Go to the USA Parts Catalogue

Instead of looking under "Dust Extractor", click the "+" next to Accessories to expand that branch

The short code for the boom arm is "CT ASA", so click the "+" next to that entry to expand that branch

Click on "492762 - CT-ASA/SB 120V" to get a list of parts and a parts diagram of the boom arm in the right-hand pane:

50mm_Hose_for_Boom_Arm.jpg

The 50mm hose assembly is shown as parts 1, 3 and 4:

1  493047    D 50/D 50 VM-AS
3  452896    D 50 DAG-AS
4  452386    D 50 MW-AS

Item 3 is two rotating 50mm connectors, part number 452896. The Festool USA catalogue for 2008/2009 has them, and lists them on page 20 as follows:

Hose Sleeves - Rotating connector:
Hose connector to fit inlet of dust extractor, external dia. 2 9/32? (58 mm).
Antistatic version for D 50 suction hose  - 452896 - $23.00

Item 1 (493047) is a reducing sleeve for connecting the 50mm hose to the tool hose, and is listed on the page 21 of the USA catalogue:

Hose sleeves?Reducing sleeves (continued)
Hose connector for tools or cleaning sets.
Antistatic connector sleeve
To connect suction hoses D 50/D 36/D 27 - 493047 - $13.50

The hose itself is No 4, but if you search the Festool USA catalogue for 452386 or D50 MW-AS, it doesn't appear to be listed. However you will find it listed on page 282 of the UK catalogue which shows three versions of 50mm anti-static hose:

Suction hose D50 antistatic:
with rotating adapter and connector
Diameter: 50 mm, Length: 2,5 m        D 50x2,5m-AS          452888
Diameter: 50 mm, Length: 4 m            D 50x4m-AS            452890

ordered by metre (without rotating
adapter or reducing sleeve),
Diameter: 50 mm                              D 50 MW-AS          452386

The 50mm boom arm hose turns out to be an unspecified length of order-by-the-metre anti-static 50mm hose (plus two rotating connectors and a reducing sleeve).

Although not listed in the catalogue, you may well be able to order the required length of 50mm hose from a dealer as a spare part.

As a guide, the UK price is 24.45 GBP + VAT per metre at 2008 prices, compared to 9.55 GBP + VAT for the 493047 reducing sleeve.

As to how much 50mm hose you should order, can someone measure the length of the 50mm hose section on their boom arm?

Forrest

Thanks, Forrest!!  You are Definitely THE MAN !!

I would like to learn some the techniques you use to gather and create your posts with so much useful information.  Would you please consider posting in the ""Forum Technical" help section of FOG a detailed tutorial on how this is done?  I think other FOG members would benefit from being able to create better posts, too.  I am certain I would.

I think the "step by step, display screen by display screen" tutorial format is the most effective means of communication of such subject matter.  I admit I am totally biased in saying this because I continue to struggle to learn more about using PCs and other digital and internet resources.

The 50mm hose that came with the boom arm is ~60" (1500mm) measured between the hose ends of the fittings.

I haven't disassembled the fitting but the hose extends ~2" (50mm) inside each fitting.

The hose is availaible  as part 452386 and is about $20. It is listed at about 1 meter long. It is available for parts.
The ends are 452896 and are $24 each.
Hose by the meter is naina.

Bill,

Are you certain of that 50mm hose Item Number being only one meter in length?  Measured the hose that came with my Boom Arm; coupling end to coupling end is a little over 5 ft.  One meter of hose isn't going to work very well, it's not long enough, unless you install a longer than 3.5m hose on your Boom Arm.

That part number  is listed as: 1 - CT Hose Linking Adapter (452386) for the boom arm and not listed as a length of hose, so I am sure it is longer than 1 meter.

Can you get those Bill? I would like to order two if they are only 20.00 each. I do not care about the hose ends.

Yes I called the tech line just to double check and it is listed at 1 meter in the spec's. I suspect that the hose is longer as my boom hose is 5' as well. That would be about 1.5 m in actuality. I guessing they are that long and just put 1 m to simplify or forgot the .5m as it it a replacement part.

Yes I can get them, they are in stock thou not sure how many.

Sure, I got your name on two, there were only a couple left.

I will take them, more even if you have them. I messaged you. Even if they are 1 Meter I have use for some short length AS hose.

It seems it is the connectors that cost so much. Heck, for a permanent connection the hose attached with a wire ring is fine with me.

Nick:

If you aren't using AS connectors, be sure to complete the path to ground with a wire that makes contact with the inside of the hose.
