Dear FOG members,
I would like to introduce myself.  I am Rick Bush, the VP of Marketing for Festool USA.  Some of you may already know me or we met at an event or show.  I’ve been with the company for 15 years now in various roles from Sales to Marketing.  I’m not only a Festool employee, but also a Festool customer and Festool user.  My favorite tools are the TS 55, the Domino, the Rotex RO 150, the MFT, and, of course, a CT!  And, naturally, I frequently use the T18.
It seems now to be a good time to introduce myself as I’ve been in this role for seven months now and I’ve had a chance to get my feet wet a bit.  Festool USA has seen lots of change over the years and especially in this past year.  And we will continue to change, adapt, and improve.  We are working feverishly to do a better job.  A better job in everything we do with sales, marketing, and customer care.
It is with this spirit that I write to you today.  As the year winds down, we are winding up!  And we are ready to hit the ground running in 2020.  As I write this our entire sales team is heading to Lebanon, Indiana to learn about our plans for 2020.  More on that later…
For now, as the year draws to a close, we reflect on the past.  Not only 2019 but all the years leading up.  Festool has gone from a relatively obscure player in the North American market to a viable brand with concepts and products that are emulated in the industry.  We recognize we could not do this without our loyal customers.  The early adopters that took a risk so many years ago to try out these concepts.  The active and supportive members of the community that have done so much for the brand and for their fellow enthusiasts!  The helpful posts, the questions answered, the helping of one another to realize even greater value from these products.  It’s been a beautiful thing and one that should keep going.

We are proud of your contribution, involvement, and engagement.  In a world with myriad platforms of communication, the FOG stands as a meaningful and valuable piece of the Festool world.  Thank you for your contributions and thank you for your support.
On behalf of all of us at Festool North America, we wish you all a wonderful holiday season and we look forward to a happy new year!

My name is Derick and I am the new Digital Specialist for Festool USA. I will be checking in from time to time to offer assistance or direction. If you need anything urgent, you can message me here on the FOG or you can reach out to our support team at 888-337-8600.

I look forward to being a part of the conversation and interacting with the Festool family here on the FOG.

Have an awesome day!

Welcome and thank you for the intro and background.

As you have witnessed this place is very active. That's one of the things
that keeps it going and interest in Festool high, for me anyway.

I've belong(ed) to many other WWing forums both independent and brand
related over the past 16 years but none have been as good as the FOG.
From the user knowledge, participation, and willingness to help others to
the factory representation which is rarely found with other brand forums.
That is one of the reasons I started buying Festool in the first place about
8 years ago.

[member=71429]DerickC[/member] - Welcome and thank you for being here! Specifically, will you be monitoring the “Ask Festool” section of the FOG and responding as best you can? As far as I know no one has been manning that post since Tyler moved on.

I'll be monitoring as much as I can and will be checking the "Ask Festool" section as well.

Thanks [member=71429]DerickC[/member] and Rick, thanks for posting and I look forward to having more Festool HQ involvement in the forum! Rick - I have enjoyed your product videos. Happy Holidays!

Welcome Derick - nice to have you here.

Can you share an update on timing for tool registration and look-up?

Rick - thanks for the intro post.  FOG is a special place online.  It does feel like home with a lot of great people, inspiration and helpful advice.  Appreciate your talks at Connect and product demos on YT.

I would enjoy seeing you active on the forum with a handle if that's possible.  I'd love to see things like Ask Me Anything or even Youtube streams with Sedge, you, Christian and so many others.  I've been active since the start of the FOG and Festool has ebbed and flowed in their active involvement.

Appreciate that Derick is here.  I'm a Shaper user and really do enjoy the many employees from that sister division that are visible and active in their digital channels.  I hope Festool can learn from them how to get more employees listening, learning and involved directly with the community online.

Nice.

[welcome] Derick and Rick!  I've missed the regular interaction of the Festool Team on the FOG since Tyler left.  As you're well aware this forum offers you a very passionate and skilled Voice of the Customer.

RANT WARNING!!!
[dead horse] I beg of you, please don't botch the handling of issues like the Kapex again!  Festool's poor handling of that issue led me to purchase not one, but two, DeWalt sliders (the total price of the two was still less than one Kapex).  At my age I will likely not need to replace them.  I am often the only craftsman on the job site with Festool tools.  My lack of the Kapex is very often noticed; I assure you I'm not shy about sharing why I chose DeWalt.

Back to regularly scheduled programming!

Essentially, Amazon Renewed is what Amazon does with returned goods, or goods damaged in shipping.

From Amazon:

Amazon Renewed is your trusted destination for pre-owned and refurbished products that are inspected and tested to work and look like new. A Renewed supplier who is Amazon-qualified and performance managed, performs a full diagnostic test, replaces any defective parts, and thoroughly cleans the product. The products will have minimal to no signs of wear, no visible cosmetic imperfections when held 12 inches away, and may arrive in a brown or white box with relevant accessories that may be generic.

First task is to find out what’s going on with the Amazon’s “renewed” Festools.

We will have updated launch info coming very soon.
