Advice on spraying General Finishes High Performance topcoat

I got a maple desk project coming up.
First time using General Finishes, but I did some test pieces that came out very, very nice.  Three parts Dye-Stain Cinnamon +1 part Amber2 + 2 parts Reducer seems to be the mix that gave the most pleasing color.  On my color samples, i followed this up with 3 coats of brushed on High Performance satin topcoat. 
The topcoat application with foam brush was not particularly great, so I think I am better spraying it. 

Seems most use HVLP, but what I have is a Graco Ultra airless.
General Finishes suggests a .010" tip, and I happen to have a FFLP 310 tip.  My concern is that the 310 tip sure seems to move even high solids paint very quickly, and with the viscosity of the High performance being lower, I am worried about runs.  I wonder if I should invest in a 208 or 308 tip ?

Anybody out there got some advice for me ?

I have a stage 4 HVLP sprayer and a Graco Magnum X7.  I use the HVLP for cabinets (with Advance) and I tried the Graco for that too.  The Graco felt like a runaway freight train when spraying cabinets.  It is great for large surfaces, but requires too fast application for my skill set for cabinet doors. 

The HVLP gives me a chance to see what I am doing.  The airless is kind of like working blind.  You can see where to spray, but you can't see how much to spray.  That how much has to done on faith (or skill).

I feel your pain on that one, but kind of in reverse. At work we use a Graco for spraying the Pre-cat Lacquer that we spray on most of what we finish. There have been a few different models over the last 17 years, but they all spray at least similarly. Most of what we do is either stain and finish or just straight lacquer, very little paint. I don't do much of it anymore, there is a dedicated guy for that now.
I recently did a kitchen job for my daughter's house, all painted, with the clear lacquer top coat. The difficult part for me was going slow enough for the regular HVLP gun that I was using for the paint. Once you get used to the speed of the Graco, going back and forth between them takes some awareness.

I am shooting topcoat on a larger test piece right now. 
Using the FFLP 308 tip, running at a pretty low speed (3).
Seems to be spraying at a nice rate, but I am unsure of my hand travel speed.
A little worried that I might be moving too slow.  Workpiece surface is mostly clear but getting some areas that have milky coating immediately after spraying, but goes to fully clear after a few minutes of drying.

Is the milky white portions indicative that it is being applied too thick ?
