Affordable Battery generator?

They made it to Oz too? Seems like every YouTuber out there is pushing/sponsored a battery pack/power-station of some sort lately.

Jackery
Ego
Bluetti
Anker
EcoFlow

Off the top of my head.

Makes me wanna NOT smash that like button

Yep I noticed it too.  Every influcencer got one and made a video about it lol

This has nothing to little to do with the unavailable video, but it's always gotten under my semantic skin that these companies, probably starting with GoalZero, have marketed their wares as "generators" when they are just storage.

Right, the only thing "generating" about them is if they were connected to solar panels.
Though I think the point is that people would use them in the place where they would normally use a generator? Camping, tailgating, backyard parties, construction sites.

But somehow these types of vendors never get it that once they are so saturated, it turns people off.
Once you get a load of what these things cost, then realize that dozens, if not hundreds, were given away for free. Yeah, sign me up to pay that extra cost of giving away so many  [huh]

The thing is, this stuff is prime for snake oil salesmen. How many, for example, would know a difference between 3.680W (as in max of a 16A socket) for the SYS-POWERSTATION which can do warranted (!) 18.000 watts peak. Reliably. Which is a bit better than the standard European B16 16A breaker which (by spec) allows up ot 5x the peak from the nominal current? So that every single portable tool out there can be handled reliably. Very very few.

Then there is an offer of an "3000 Watt" device where it is written in the fine print in can do up to 6.000W peak (every second angle grinder takes way more than that on startup). And a woodworker is asked to "test" it. As in someone with (generally) a very little electrician know-how AND with low-power tools that mostly cannot load the power banks to max.

Also, who would know that all the electronics needs are for the peak - so 18.000W for FT and in the 6.000W range for everyone else I saw. Sustained power is the easy one with battery inverters. Peak is where the meat is. Try to price a 15kW peak solar inverter ... no fun.

So, how wonderfull a deal that 3kWh "generator" is compared to the "crappy weak and overpriced" Festool which costs 3x mode and has "only" 1.5kWh. Right? Right?

Mind you, most of those "generators" a reasonable deal for what they offer. But not as a heavy duty daily driver mains replacement for power tools. They are excellent for camping or emergency power source. Or to charge tool batteries from.

Not accusing anyone. It is all in the specs for most of these. It is just very very few people can read those correctly and the "salesmen" rely on that heavily.

Above is not meant as an "ad" for the SYS-POWERSTATION. It is overkill for most folks here to begin. But hopefully less folks will buy these "3000W sustained 5000W peak" things, thinking they can power a 2500W tool with them with ease ... only to be denied RMA a month later.

i mean, sell me a box that lets me solar charge and run outlets off the dozens of Makita LXT batteries I have, and I'll watch your YT video ten times.  But build a plastic case for some generic Li-ions?  Pass.

You posted above about Jackery as being one of the brands sold in this battery storage category.  I have seen lots of YouTube videos about Jackery being used by RV campers.  Usually with the optional pay extra solar panels.  Free electrical generating!!!!!!  Sounds appealing.  Compared to buying fuel for a generator.  A gas generator might also cost more than the Jackery battery solar devices.  For RV or tent camping, they might make sense in some situations.

But for running electrical power tools?  No.  Almost all power tools now have a battery version you can buy.  So if you need a battery Jackery, just sell the electrical tool and buy the battery version of the tool.  Or buy a small gas generator to power the electrical tool.  And with the Jackery, you have to have access to electricity anyway.  It has solar charging.  But the solar charging cannot keep up with how fast an electrical tool can run the Jackery battery down.
