Hi guys, I have recently purchased a N4400 and I am trying to find a good company to purchase aftermarket blades for this machine.

I didn't think it would be as difficult in finding information for them and also the correct length. Axminster don't seem to do the correct length for this machine.
3976 mm is the recommended size. Although a range of 3950 - 4000 is given in the book.

The other companies that come up, upon googling I've never heard of particularly.

So just looking for any reconsiderations for blades and companies.

Particularly looking for a good ripping blade for rough dimensioning of timber. And then also some replacement blades for curved work and general preparation.

As always any other comments are welcome  [blink]

I have the same band saw not had it long and I need a new blade now and few different blades.

Pretty much what you said I want .

So ill be keeping my eye on this topic

I've got to say with what I've done with it so far I am really impressed with it.

Just that the Felder blade supplied isn't brilliant. Hence why the topic.

I am sure someone will be along soon JMB to put us out of our misery lol

Yeah I came across the Tuffsaw when googling.

Had no experience or heard of them so that's good that your recommending them off the bat.

Are you using all their blades or just specific ones?

Ummmm.... Little  [embarassed].    I don't know why but I thought my band saw was a N4400.  I just decided to look for blades for the N4400.    Well it's not the same as my band saw lol.

I have the FB 610 Bandsaw oops!  Still I am interested in aftermarket blades for my saw.

I have  a  Tuffsaw  blade in my N4400.
It's a Supertuff  Carbon  3 tpi  5/8".

And very happy with it. Cuts smoothly and efficiently  and straight.

Tuffsaws all the way, very knowledgeable and willing to advise, won't sell you something you don't need and great blades at very reasonable prices. On UK Workshop forum there are hundreds of satisfied Tuffsaws customers.

100% Tuffsaws, very helpful - even caught me trying to buy the wrong sized blade and corrected it for me.

Ian at Tuffsaw provides very good service, every blade can be custom made at no extra cost so just give him the exact length you want, it's part of the order process. The M42 blades have a very long lifespan, about 10 times the usual. He will ship anywhere, he sent mine to Japan :) His after sales service is excellent, if your blade fails he will repair it, probably free. The information on his site is superb but if your not sure he will discuss your exact needs with you. As Wuffles just said he is truly interested in satisfied customers. He convinced me not to get a TCT blade as my machine wouldn't correctly tension it.

Just as an indication of cost.

M42 ½" £33.00 3,4 and 4 different Vari-tooth pitches from 6/10 to 14/18
1/2" - SuperTuff Premium 3591mm - 4100mm £13.65  3,4,6 or 10 tpi

I get my bands from my saw sharpener, he welds them up for me.

Any local guys like that?

Well my local saw sharpener doesn't seem that good to be honest.

Non of my blades seem to ever last any were near as long as they do from new.

Both my work mates have said same thing to me about them not lasting.  At first I thought I was imagining it but over the years I'm pretty sure now they don't last as long.

Just  fitted a Supertuff  Carbon  3 TPI/16mm  to my  bandsaw  and tried it with  some 200mm deep oak.
Cuts like a knife through butter.

Another recommendation for Tuffsaws. Very good blades - and superb service. Recommend the 1/2" Fastcut blade. But know nothing about you bandsaw - so speak to Ian or email him - he will reply usually after 3pm when he's in from the workshop.

Another +1 for tuffsaw, I use the skip tooth 3/4" on my n4400 all the time for resaw. Not looked at the MM extra hard blades, I believe they are not quite as sharp as normal blades at the outset but this is obviously offset with staying sharp 10x longer

on that nite, I just ordered a n3800, blade length is supposed to be 140", I wanted to out a Lenox trimester on it, but the closest sizes are either 137 or 142... any suggestions for those of us in the US?
